Job Description – Salaried General Practitioner (Fixed-Term, Maternity Cover)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Salaried General Practitioner to join Hwb Iechyd Cybi in Holyhead, Anglesey, on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.
Hwb Iechyd Cybi is a forward-thinking multidisciplinary primary care hub, part of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) managed practices portfolio. The practice delivers innovative, team-based care to a diverse community, emphasising collaboration, accessibility, and high-quality patient-centred services.
The ideal candidate is a patient-centred GP who thrives in a collaborative environment, supporting both clinical and non-clinical colleagues. This position offers an opportunity to gain experience in a well-supported managed practice setting.
Main Responsibilities
The Salaried General Practitioner (GP) will be responsible for:
- Providing high-quality, safe, and effective primary care to the registered patient population.
- Conducting routine and urgent consultations via in-person, telephone, and digital channels.
- Managing a diverse clinical caseload, including:
- Acute presentations
- Chronic disease management
- Preventative and wellness care
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team (Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists, Care Coordinators).
- Ensuring continuity of care through proactive clinical management and follow-up.
- Participating in:
- Practice meetings
- Clinical governance activities
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Supporting the development of innovative care models within the managed practice.
- Maintaining accurate, up-to-date clinical records in line with organisational and professional standards.

Qualifications
Essential Criteria: ✔ Full GMC Registration with a valid licence to practise ✔ Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice OR Certificate Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR) ✔ Entry on a UK Medical Performers List (or eligibility for inclusion) ✔ Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)

Desirable Criteria: ⭐ MRCGP qualification ⭐ Academic excellence (e.g., prizes, distinctions) ⭐ Additional specialist interests or skills relevant to general practice
Experience
Essential Criteria: ✔ Completed GP vocational training ✔ Proven experience in general practice ✔ History of collaborating in multidisciplinary teams
Desirable Criteria: ⭐ Eligibility for minor surgery, obstetrics, or family planning accreditation
Skills
Essential Criteria: ✔ Ability to manage a busy and varied primary care caseload with flexibility. ✔ Capacity to make independent clinical decisions (with senior guidance as needed). ✔ Strong teamworking mentality in a multidisciplinary setting. ✔ Excellent counselling and communication skills. ✔ Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance. ✔ Commitment to active participation in practice management. ✔ Proficiency in medical IT systems (e.g., clinical software). ✔ Ability to build and sustain relationships with patients, colleagues, and external parties. ✔ Capacity to work across organisational boundaries for shared objectives. ✔ Ability to draft timely clinical documents (e.g., letters, reports, protocols).
Desirable Criteria: ⭐ Experience in clinical audit and research. ⭐ Previous teaching/training roles. ⭐ Basic Welsh language skills (spoken/written).
