Salaried General Practitioner (Fixed-Term) – Hwb Iechyd Cybi, Holyhead

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Salaried General Practitioner to join Hwb Iechyd Cybi on a fixed-term basis, covering maternity leave.

Hwb Iechyd Cybi is an innovative, multidisciplinary primary care hub in Holyhead, Anglesey, serving a diverse and dynamic community. As part of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s managed practices, the practice offers a collaborative environment, innovative service models, and strong support for team-based care.

We are seeking a patient-centred GP passionate about delivering high-quality, accessible care within a supportive and collaborative setting. This role provides a unique opportunity to work in a well-resourced managed practice, contributing to clinical excellence while benefiting from multidisciplinary teamwork and professional development.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide high-quality, safe, and effective primary care to the registered patient population
  • Conduct routine and urgent consultations (face-to-face, telephonic, and digital)
  • Manage a diverse clinical caseload, including:
    • Acute presentations
    • Chronic disease management
    • Preventative care
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including:
    • Advanced Nurse Practitioners
    • Practice Nurses
    • Pharmacists
    • Care Coordinators
  • Ensure continuity of care through proactive clinical management and follow-ups
  • Participate in:
    • Practice meetings
    • Clinical governance activities
    • Quality improvement initiatives
  • Support innovative care models within the managed practice setting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with organisational and professional standards

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
  • GMC entry on the GP Register, including either:
    • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice
    • Certificate Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR)
    • Equivalent accreditation
  • Included on (or eligible for) a Medical Performers List
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Desirable Criteria

  • Academic excellence (e.g., prizes, merits, distinctions)
  • MRCGP qualification
  • Other relevant specialist interests and skills

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Completed vocational GP training
  • Proven general practice experience, including multi-disciplinary teamwork

Desirable Criteria

  • Eligibility for:
    • Minor surgery
    • Obstetrics / Delivery Suite Work
    • Family planning accreditation

Skills

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to manage a busy, varied primary care caseload flexibly
  • Capacity to make independent clinical decisions when appropriate (with senior guidance when needed)
  • Strong commitment to team-based and multi-disciplinary approaches
  • Excellent counseling and communication skills
  • Understanding of clinical risk management and governance
  • Willingness to engage in management processes
  • Good IT proficiency
  • Strong ** interpersonal, persuasive, and diplomatic skills**
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with patients, professionals, and stakeholders
  • Capacity to collaborate across organisations to achieve shared goals
  • Ability to draft letters, reports, and protocols efficiently

  • Welsh language skills (spoken or written)
