Senior GP Lead (Full-Time or Part-Time) – Prison-Based Primary Care

About the Role
An exciting new service commission has created a unique opportunity for a passionate GP to join the Spectrum Team as the Lead GP in a secure healthcare setting.
This role is open to applicants working full-time or part-time, offering the benefits of NHS employment, including:

While previous experience in a secure environment isn’t mandatory, full induction and training will be provided. The role is ideal for a GP with:

Responsibilities
As Lead GP, your role will revolve around on-site clinical care while providing strategic leadership within a multi-disciplinary primary healthcare team (MDT). Key duties include:
Core Clinical Responsibilities
- Deliver blended models of care—combining face-to-face primary care and complex case management within a collaborative environment.
- Provide clinical leadership to ensure high standards of patient care within a secure healthcare setting (e.g., prison health).
- Contribute to clinical governance and work with senior healthcare leadership to develop and maintain effective GP services on-site.

Service Development & Leadership
- Partner with Head of Healthcare and North West Regional Lead GP to enhance GP clinical services in line with Spectrum’s innovative, digitally enabled, patient-focused vision.
- Ensure service delivery aligns with modern primary care models, leveraging digital solutions and integrated care approaches.
- Work alongside clinical leaders specialising in:
- Medical Education
- Clinical Substance Misuse
- Remote Clinical Support
Team Collaboration & System-Wide Impact
- Support the delivery of high-quality primary care for stigmatised and marginalised populations.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to improve health outcomes and service experiences.
Requirements
Essential
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered GP (opens new window) holding an up-to-date General Medical Council (GMC) registration.
- Strong clinical knowledge and experience in primary care, with a focus on innovation and patient-centred care.
- Attributes:
- Passion for transforming primary care delivery to address current challenges.
- Willingness to adapt to a new working environment, including secure healthcare settings.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a dynamic team.
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience in secure or custodial primary healthcare settings.
- Interest in substance misuse or public health specialisms.

- Full training and induction provided, ensuring smooth integration.
- Part-time or flexible working options available.
