Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Salaried General Practitioner to join the team at Hwb Iechyd Cybi on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a well-supported managed practice, with access to a wide range of clinical and non-clinical colleagues.


Main Duties of the Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide high-quality, safe, and effective primary care services to the registered patient population
  • Undertake routine and urgent consultations in:
    • Face-to-face settings
    • Telephone format
    • Digital platforms (when appropriate)
  • Manage a diverse clinical caseload, including:
    • Acute presentations
    • Chronic disease management
    • Preventative care initiatives
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, such as:
    • Advanced Nurse Practitioners
    • Practice Nurses
    • Pharmacists
    • Care Coordinators
  • Contribute to continuity of care and patient experience through:
    • Proactive clinical management
    • Strategic follow-up
  • Participate in:
    • Practice meetings
    • Clinical governance activities
    • Quality improvement initiatives
  • Support the development of innovative models of care within a managed practice setting
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records in line with professional standards

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
  • Full GP registration confirmed by:
    • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice
    • Certificate Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR)
    • Or equivalent
  • Inclusion (or eligibility for inclusion) on a Medical Performers List
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Desirable Criteria:

  • Academic excellence (prizes, distinctions, etc.)
  • MRCGP
  • Relevant specialist interests/skills (modules, CPD, or qualifications)

Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Vocational GP training completed
  • Comprehensive experience in general practice working within multidisciplinary environments

Desirable Criteria:

  • Accreditation eligibility for:
    • Minor surgery
    • Obstetrics
    • Family planning

Skills

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven ability to manage a busy and diverse primary care caseload while responding flexibly to workload demands
  • Effective delegation of decision-making where appropriate, with senior doctor consultation support when needed
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaboration in a multi-disciplinary setting
  • Strong counselling and communication skills
  • Proficiency and understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance processes
  • Commitment to grasp and participate in managerial processes
  • Advanced IT proficiency (including GP systems, EHR etc.)
  • Ability to develop and sustain strong interpersonal relationships, both individually and across groups
  • Collaboration to meet organisational objectives, delivering team-oriented and cross-departmental care
  • Realistic drafting timescales for letters, reports, and protocols

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with audit processes
  • Research interests (preferably relevant to general practice)
  • Teaching or training experience (e.g. mentoring, supervision)
  • Welsh language competency (spoken or written)
