About the Role

We are looking for a Sales Administrator Apprentice to join our busy team based at our Fixings Branch in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual looking to start their career in sales administration and customer service while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

The successful candidate will support the sales team with customer enquiries, quotations, order processing, and general administrative duties, while delivering excellent customer service to both new and existing customers. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, organised, and enjoys working as part of a team.

Hours

  • Full-time Monday - Thursday; 8.00 am - 5.00 pm
  • Friday 8.00 am - 4.00 pm
  • One-hour lunch break

  • Performing a variety of administrative, logistical, and support duties to assist the sales team and wider business.
  • Supporting all aspects of the sales process through quotations, order processing, receipts, despatch documentation, and customer communication.
  • Providing a high level of customer support to both new and existing customers.
  • Managing incoming customer enquiries via telephone, email, and in person.
  • General administrative duties including answering telephone calls, filing, data entry, and managing emails.
  • Assisting with maintaining accurate customer and order records.
  • Supporting the team to ensure efficient day-to-day operations and productivity.
  • Maintaining the stores area in an acceptable condition and complying with the Group's Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems at all times.

Other Duties

  • Undertaking any other duties within the skill and capability of the individual as directed by the Manager or designated supervisor.
  • Performing all tasks in compliance with the Group's Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Control systems, along with any other applicable management systems and best practices implemented by R&M Electrical Group.

Apprenticeship Training

As a Sales Administrator Apprentice, you will complete a Customer Service Level 2 or Level 3 Apprenticeship Qualification through a national training provider.

Training will be delivered primarily through workplace learning, allowing you to develop practical skills while gaining valuable industry experience. You will be allocated a dedicated tutor and receive structured study time within your working week.

Components of the Apprenticeship

  • Competence and Knowledge-Based Qualification
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required)
  • End Point Assessment including:
    • Knowledge Test
    • Workplace Observation
    • Professional Discussion

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Confident speaking with customers on the telephone and face-to-face
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Organised and able to manage their workload efficiently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Enthusiastic with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Self-motivated and hardworking
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Ambitious with a genuine interest in developing a career in sales and customer service
  • In possession of good Maths and English skills (GCSE Grade 4/C or above preferred)

No previous experience is required, although experience in a customer service, administration, or retail environment would be advantageous.

Training

Training will be delivered primarily through on-the-job learning, enabling the successful candidate to gain practical experience while developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to achieve their apprenticeship qualification.
