About the Role
The International Sales team at Simon & Schuster UK seeks an enthusiastic and organised Administrator to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the International Key Account Manager, this role provides vital day-to-day administrative support—ensuring seamless sales operations and efficient customer management across diverse international accounts.
Responsibilities
The Sales Administrator will:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the International Sales team, improving efficiency and accuracy.
- Generate and distribute sales reports (via Microsoft Excel and other systems) to support decision-making.
- Process customer orders, returns, and quotation requests efficiently and accurately.
- Coordinate author events and promotional activities, aiding the planning and delivery of these initiatives in partnership with Marketing and Publicity.
- Maintain and update customer databases and sales records across multiple systems.
- Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams, including:
- Customer Services
- Finance
- Inventory
- Marketing & Publicity
- Distribution

- Support ad hoc reporting, commercial analysis, and project work as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows, particularly in international sales operations.
- Represent the team professionally and maintain strong working relationships across departments.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Attention to detail and exceptional organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Experience in administrative, sales support, operations, or customer services, preferably in a fast-paced commercial setting such as publishing.
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—as well as excellent grammar and business messaging.
- Proficiency in leveraging Microsoft Office tools—particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- A pro-active approach and team player mentality, with the flexibility to handle varied tasks independently.
- A willingness to learn about international book trade, publishing operations, or commercial sales processes.
Candidate Background
Though experience in publishing is advantageous, cross-industry experience in operations, sales, or customer-facing roles will be considered. The ideal candidate will bring fresh perspectives to commercial publishing processes while demonstrating adaptability and a collaborative approach.
