As a Sales & Retention Manager, you'll be responsible for driving membership growth, improving member retention, and supporting the overall commercial success of your club. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you'll lead sales activity, coach colleagues to perform at their best, and ensure every member journey is seamless from first enquiry through to long-term loyalty.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine commercial thinking, people leadership, and customer experience to maximize club performance and deliver sustainable growth.
You'll be the club's sales champion, leading from the front, building local partnerships, and creating opportunities that drive both new member acquisition and member retention.

Job Description
The Role
As Sales & Retention Manager, you'll take ownership of membership growth, member engagement, and commercial performance across the club.
Working closely with the General Manager and wider leadership team, you'll develop strategies that improve member acquisition, retention, and overall club profitability.

Lead Sales Performance
- Champion and deliver the FUNDAMENTALS sales process across the club
- Coach and develop colleagues to maximize sales performance and conversion
- Drive membership sales through effective lead management and member engagement
- Monitor performance against KPIs and implement action plans to achieve targets
- Deliver regular sales updates and performance presentations to the leadership team
- Drive revenue across memberships, fitness products, and secondary spend
Drive Member Retention
- Create initiatives that improve member engagement and retention
- Analyse retention trends and member behaviour to identify opportunities for growth
- Ensure every member receives an outstanding experience throughout their fitness journey
- Support delivery of member-focused campaigns, events, and national initiatives
- Build a culture that prioritizes member satisfaction and loyalty
Grow the Business
- Develop and execute creative lead-generation activity both inside and outside the club
- Build relationships with local businesses, community groups, and organizations through #WeMoveBusinesses
- Support local marketing initiatives that drive awareness and membership growth
- Identify new opportunities to increase club performance and market presence
Lead And Develop Others
- Deliver coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback to colleagues
- Promote a positive, high-performance culture within the club
- Lead by example through exceptional service standards and professionalism
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of future talent
Support Club Operations
- Work closely with the General Manager to support day-to-day operations
- Assist with Health & Safety, compliance, facilities, and maintenance processes
- Ensure company standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service are consistently maintained
- Support the successful delivery of company initiatives and operational priorities

Qualifications
Essential
What We're Looking For
- Experience in sales, membership, retail, hospitality, or customer-focused leadership roles
- Proven ability to influence performance and achieve commercial targets
- Strong leadership and coaching skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Commercial mindset and confidence working with KPIs and performance data
- Passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences
- Positive, resilient, and solutions-focused approach
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays when required
Desirable
- Experience within a fitness, leisure, or membership-based business
- Knowledge of lead generation, sales conversion, and retention strategies
- Experience developing business partnerships and community engagement initiatives
- Understanding of membership sales and customer lifecycle management
