Sales Controller

Location: Newbury, Berkshire Salary: £30,000 Basic | £55,000 OTE + Company Benefits

Overview

An established automotive retailer is seeking an ambitious and driven Sales Controller to support the management of a high-performing vehicle sales department.

Working closely with the Sales Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving sales performance, supporting and developing the sales team, maximising finance and insurance opportunities, and ensuring an outstanding customer experience throughout the sales process.

This opportunity would suit:

  • An experienced Senior Sales Executive looking to take the next step
  • An existing Sales Controller seeking a fresh challenge within a professional and customer-focused dealership environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of the vehicle sales department
  • Assist in motivating, coaching, and developing the sales team to achieve and exceed targets
  • Drive new and used vehicle sales performance
  • Maximise finance, insurance, and value-added product penetration
  • Ensure strict adherence to all sales processes and compliance standards (FCA)
  • Monitor sales activity, conversion rates, and departmental KPIs
  • Collaborate on stock management and vehicle pricing strategies
  • Conduct deal reviews and support negotiations when required
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and retention
  • Work closely with the Sales Manager to achieve departmental objectives and profitability targets
  • Ensure accuracy in sales documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members as needed

Candidate Profile

Essential

  • Previous experience within a franchised automotive dealership environment
  • Proven success as a Senior Sales Executive, Business Manager, or Sales Controller
  • Strong understanding of vehicle finance and insurance products
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet sales and profitability targets
  • Excellent leadership and coaching skills
  • Strong organisational and communication abilities
  • Customer-focused with a professional approach
  • Full UK driving licence
