Sales Controller

Location: Newbury, Berkshire Salary: £30,000 Basic | £55,000 OTE + Company Benefits
Overview
An established automotive retailer is seeking an ambitious and driven Sales Controller to support the management of a high-performing vehicle sales department.
Working closely with the Sales Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving sales performance, supporting and developing the sales team, maximising finance and insurance opportunities, and ensuring an outstanding customer experience throughout the sales process.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day management of the vehicle sales department
- Assist in motivating, coaching, and developing the sales team to achieve and exceed targets
- Drive new and used vehicle sales performance
- Maximise finance, insurance, and value-added product penetration
- Ensure strict adherence to all sales processes and compliance standards (FCA)
- Monitor sales activity, conversion rates, and departmental KPIs
- Collaborate on stock management and vehicle pricing strategies
- Conduct deal reviews and support negotiations when required
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and retention
- Work closely with the Sales Manager to achieve departmental objectives and profitability targets
- Ensure accuracy in sales documentation and regulatory compliance
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members as needed

Candidate Profile
Essential
- Previous experience within a franchised automotive dealership environment
- Proven success as a Senior Sales Executive, Business Manager, or Sales Controller
- Strong understanding of vehicle finance and insurance products
- Demonstrated ability to consistently meet sales and profitability targets
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills
- Strong organisational and communication abilities
- Customer-focused with a professional approach
- Full UK driving licence
