Sales Counter Assistant - Part Time

Office located in Preston – The role is a full on site based role. Working 19 hours per week, Thursday & Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 8am-12pm.

Job Summary

As a Sales Counter Assistant, you’ll be the face of CPC — supporting customers with product queries, processing orders, resolving issues, and ensuring everyone who visits our trade counter receives exceptional service.

If you enjoy helping people, staying organised, and working in a fast-paced environment, this is a great opportunity to build your skills within a supportive team.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will:

  • Respond to customer enquiries — in person, by phone, and via email.
  • Process orders, returns, invoicing, and stock queries.
  • Expedite urgent orders and keep customers updated on progress.
  • Support the sales team with quotes, reporting, and backlog management.
  • Resolve customer claims and complaints fairly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and customer experience.
  • Perform other duties that support the smooth running of the sales counter.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Can multitask and work confidently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Has basic computer, email, and phone skills.
  • Enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in getting things right.
  • Works well as part of a small, supportive team.
  • Has some customer-facing experience (helpful but not essential).
  • Holds a high school diploma or equivalent.
