About MapMortar
MapMortar is an award-winning climate-tech startup that helps real estate portfolios, consultants, lenders, insurers, and asset managers reduce risk, improve resilience, protect rental income and safeguard asset values through AI-driven retrofit planning and delivery. Our RAILS (Real Asset Intelligence Learning System) for retrofits — a proprietary AI and financial modelling layer built with UCL that identifies where assets face transition risk (MEES, EPC, CRREM), physical climate risk, and operational cost pressure, and recommends upgrades aligned with asset-level and unit-level financial strategy. We have raised $4.5m from VCs, Strategic Customers and the Innovate UK. We have won major national awards including:
- UKPA Decarbonising the Built Environment Winner (2025)
- Geovation Impact Award Winner
Our platform and delivery model are already used by leading landlords, consultants, and service partners across the UK and Europe — providing a strong, credible foundation for rapid commercial growth.
The Role
As our Sales Development Representative, you will be the driving engine at the very top of our sales funnel. This is not a "cogs-in-a-machine" role; you will have massive autonomy to shape our outbound activity.
We have hot, targeted lead lists waiting for you in HubSpot, and your marketing teammate, Gabby, is driving great brand awareness through events. Your mission is to proactively research these leads, build highly effective outbound sequences, and pick up the phone to book high-quality discovery meetings.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Drive Outbound Activity: Manage top-of-funnel pipeline generation through cold calling, structured email sequences, and LinkedIn outreach.

- Lead Research: Navigate corporate structures within our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)—specifically targeting Landlords, Commercial Asset Managers, and Sustainability Consultants.
- Pipeline Management: Keep HubSpot meticulously updated, tracking interactions, mapping accounts, and optimizing workflows to ensure clean handovers.

- Passion for the Planet: You don’t need a deep background in commercial real estate or sustainability, but you must have a genuine interest as it makes the conversations authentic.
- Experience Level: We are open-minded. You might be a high-potential graduate looking for elite startup training, or an individual with 1–2 years of cold-calling/B2B sales experience looking to pivot into enterprise SaaS sales.
- Strong Communicator: Exceptional phone presence and a knack for writing sharp, engaging sales copy that breaks down complex tech into clear, time-and-cost-saving value metrics.
- Tech Stack (Bonus): Familiarity with HubSpot, Instantly, Claude workflows or similar sales engagement tools is a plus.
