About the Role:

We are working with a leading global technology and consulting organisation that is looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to drive new business growth across the UK Utilities sector.

This is a senior, individual contributor sales role focused on generating new business revenue, opening new logos and developing strategic relationships across electricity, gas, water, wastewater, renewables, generation, distribution and transmission customers.

The successful candidate will sell a broad range of IT services, business process services, outsourcing and engineering solutions into key Utilities clients and prospects across the UK.

This role would suit a proven senior sales professional with strong Utilities sector experience, a track record of winning large outsourcing or IT services deals, and the ability to build trusted relationships at C-suite level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate new business sales and revenue across the UK Utilities sector.
  • Target clients and prospects across electricity, gas, water, wastewater, renewables, generation, distribution and transmission markets.
  • Build and maintain senior relationships with C-suite and executive stakeholders across target accounts.
  • Create, agree and implement sales strategies, account plans and market engagement plans.
  • Identify key opportunities and develop compelling propositions and business cases.
  • Sell a broad range of IT services, business process services, outsourcing and engineering services.
  • Bid for and win new business, including new logos and major account opportunities.
  • Work with internal teams to shape client solutions and support complex bid activity.
  • Use bid review, approval, sales reporting and pipeline management tools effectively.
  • Develop innovative commercial approaches and deal structures.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and represent the business credibly in the Utilities market.
  • Work collaboratively across virtual teams in multiple locations and countries.
  • Travel to offices, client sites and occasionally internationally as required.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven business development or senior sales experience within the UK Utilities sector.
  • Strong track record of selling IT services, outsourcing, business process services or engineering services.
  • Experience winning large deals and generating new business revenue within Utilities.
  • Strong understanding of the Utilities market, including electricity, gas, water, wastewater, renewables, generation, distribution or transmission.
  • Existing senior relationships across Utilities customers would be highly advantageous.
  • Ability to engage credibly with C-suite and senior decision-makers.
  • Strong consultative selling and solution sales approach.
  • Experience developing propositions, business cases, account plans and sales strategies.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of complex deal structures.
  • Knowledge of the value outsourcing can bring to large organisations.
  • Experience competing in the IT services or consulting market.
  • Broad understanding of IT industry trends, technologies and their impact on Utilities clients.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and customer management skills.
  • Self-starter with a target-driven and ambitious approach.
  • Comfortable working to demanding bid timelines and sales targets.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
