Sales Director - EMEA

Location: London

Team: Commercial

Base Salary: £130,000 - £180,000 + uncapped commission (OTE 100%)

Reporting To: Chief Commercial Officer

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?

You’ll be playing a key role in the Kaluza’s Sales function enabling Kaluza to break new ground and lead in the global market. Your main focus will be the EMEA region but there is the potential to expand your activity into additional markets to reach a broader pool of clients.

In this role you’ll be working across both Kaluza platforms: Retail Energy Platform & Flex. Our platforms are shaping the future: A distributed, consumer-centric, dynamic energy system that will be the nervous system connecting energy retailers, grid / network operators and consumers to provide clean, affordable energy for everyone. We are creating the tools to help consumers unlock the full benefits of renewable energy by enabling a seamless connection between the customer and the grid.

At Kaluza, you’ll be joining a growing team of 450+ people and you can have every confidence that when you're doing well, you're also doing good. The work we do will enable our society to meet the challenge of bringing electric vehicles and connected homes to market, and we’re doing that by building unique technology to enable market-leading customer propositions like Vehicle to Grid and Drive Anytime Energy Plan through our energy retailer partners. With 2 million live meter points already on our Energy Retail Platform, our mission to accelerate an affordable and resilient energy transition is well underway.

What will I be doing

You’ll be part of a high performing sales team and take the lead on developing relationships with the largest energy businesses in EMEA and beyond.

You will build client relationships from an early stage; forming a strong understanding of their business and identifying their needs. You’ll work with the Kaluza teams to design solutions that provide a compelling case to adopt Kaluza’s technology and consider how best to package and position that solution. You’ll also take the lead on coordinating the Kaluza team ahead of all key client interactions preparing and through the completion of any formal selection processes. And finally guide the client through the final engagement stages through to contracting.

Our clients' needs and our solutions can be highly complex. You will be supported by the wider commercial team of marketing and policy experts, solutions architects, partnership managers and in-life client executives.

As a Director you will also play a key role in our commercial strategy, helping to identify new business opportunities, inform our product development roadmap and business planning. Should leadership of a team be an important factor for you, you will also have the opportunity to lead, coordinate and develop a team of Sales leads, all working towards the goal of growing Kaluza’s client base.

Some example activities include:

  • Identifying new client opportunities and proactively initiating conversations with key stakeholders
  • Building a strong understanding of a potential client’s current and future needs and objectives; and sharing a compelling narrative around how Kaluza can support these
  • Coordinating activity within Kaluza related to a potential client - from tender responses to preparing for key pitches
  • Closing significant deals; including contract and pricing negotiation
  • Working with key partners in our ecosystem to help identify potential clients and also when creating proposals for specific clients
  • Attending key industry events to build Kaluza awareness and engage with potential buyers
  • In time, building and leading an experienced and high performing sales team

About You

You are a "Player-Coach" who thrives in fast-paced, scaling environments. You have the strategic depth to sit at the executive table and the grit to roll your sleeves up and get into the weeds of a complex enterprise sale when it matters most.

Ideally you’ll have/be:

  • Significant experience in enterprise software business development, SaaS, consulting, relevant industry or start-up environment
  • Experience within the energy industry and knowledge of this market
  • Led significant size, complex deals through long sales cycles
  • Proven ability to land multi-million dollar deals (ideally $10mil and above)
  • Experience of spending time and creating meaningful relationships with senior client teams.
  • Comfortable travelling around the globe on a frequent basis.
