Position Overview

The Data Center Equipment Sales Engineer is responsible for promoting and selling Equipment solutions to new and existing customers. The primary objective is to:

  • Generate new business and pipeline opportunities
  • Build strong customer relationships
  • Achieve sales targets

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development

  • Identify and target potential customers across various industries requiring Equipment solutions in HVAC and Process Cooling
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to generate leads and convert opportunities into sales
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitors, and potential business opportunities
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline, ensuring accurate updates in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop promotional materials and campaigns supporting sales efforts

Technical Expertise

  • Mastery of Equipment solutions in HVAC and Process Temperature Control, including:
    • Process chiller units
    • Temperature control units
    • Related equipment and installations
  • Provide technical guidance and support to customers, ensuring tailored Equipment solutions based on their needs
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate customer requirements and propose efficient, accurate solutions
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to design and customize solutions

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain trusted customer relationships—past, present, and future—acting as a keystone for sales
  • Understand and respond to customer needs, delivering timely, effective solutions for customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Conduct regular follow-ups to ensure continuing success and proactively address concerns or challenges
  • Provide after-sales support, including:
    • Troubleshooting and maintenance advice
    • Coordination with technical teams

Sales Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare regular reports on:
    • Sales forecasts
    • Pipeline updates
    • Performance metrics
  • Analyze market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activities to identify growth and enhancement opportunities
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to management for strategizing sales success

Internal Alignment and Compliance

  • Adhere to internal codes of conduct and ethical frameworks
  • Drive your own development and learning through tools like My Learning
  • Align personal performance with business goals; meet objectives and deliver feedback as part of a transparent growth culture
  • Complete any additional ad hoc tasks assigned by a line manager

Skills and Experience

  • Qualification or applied experience in engineering or a related field (MDT: advantage)
  • Proven experience in sales and customer relationship management, preferably in the HVAC or refrigeration industry
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster customer trust
  • Ability to analyze customer needs and propose effective solutions
  • Self-motivated and goal-driven with a track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Right to work in the UK and a valid driver’s licence
