Role Overview
The role of the Sales Engineer Rockfall and Geotechnical will involve:
- Field based technical role, responsible for providing technical support, technical advice, project management, and quotations to clients who are looking to utilize a wide range of geotechnical products.
- Business development both technically and commercially, with a remit to promote our clients solutions and design and installation services.
- 60% of your time will focus on managing rockfall solutions and rock-fall-hazard mitigation.
- 40% promoting retaining walls & structures and soil reinforced slopes & walls (but also erosion protection, pavement & ground stabilization, geosynthetics etc.).
- Circa 50% of your time winning specifications with consulting engineers.
- 50% managing, building relationships and breaking specifications (using technical expertise) with civil engineering contractors.
- Projects can vary from housing schemes to infrastructure.
- Managing an area currently turning over approx. £800,000-£1m currently performing slightly below budget expectation.
- 50% new business prospecting, 50% account management, you will inherit a healthy project bank.
- Typical projects range in size from £10,000-£50,000, although can be much larger.
- Three days a week on the road winning specifications and influencing specifiers, two days a week working from home on technical proposals and designs.
- Working in conjunction with established distribution partners and internal sales team resource.
- Plan, develop and execute technical seminars and presentations on all geosynthetic materials.

Ideal Applicant
The ideal applicant will be a Sales Engineer Rockfall and Geotechnical experience with:
- Ideally looking for someone with rockfall slant/experience.
- Ideally a Geotech or geologist who knows a bit about rockfall and the potential solutions.
- Open to non-sales background with geotechnical contractors or civil engineering contractors or consulting engineers looking for a more commercially led role.
- Ideally not a fresh graduate, must have at least 2-4 years experience in the industry.
- Proven track record of winning geotechnical or civil engineering specification projects is not essential.
- Previous experience of influencing and managing relationships with consulting engineers and civil engineering contractors is preferential.
- Ideally with a technical/ commercial mix.
- Construction site experience.
- Self-starter, motivated to work from home.
- Civil engineering, geology or geotechnical qualification preferred (HNC and above).
- Technically astute.
- Understands value engineering.
- Contacts within consulting engineers and civil engineering contractors may be advantageous.
- Knowledge of geotechnical products is not required as full product training will be given.
- An understanding of civil engineering proposals and designs.
- Practical experience in designing with geosynthetics.
