About the Company
Our client is a well-established UK manufacturer based in Great Barr, with over 100 years of expertise and a reputation for excellence in the engineering sector. With a £5m annual turnover, a loyal workforce, and customers across the globe, they are now looking to strengthen their team with a driven Sales Engineer.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 depending on experience
- Benefits:
- 33 days holiday including Bank Holidays
- Free car parking
Hours of Work
- 9.00am – 5:30pm (Monday – Thursday)
- 9.00am – 4:30pm (Friday)
About the Role
This role is in the sales department. You will handle incoming sales enquiries from our customers and build close relationships with them in dealing with sales enquiries, producing accurate and competitive quotes and being able to provide solutions to meet their needs and applications.

Responsibilities
As the Sales Engineer, you will:
- Work closely with sales and technical teams as an active team member
- Handle customer enquiries via phone and email, providing technical and commercial solutions
- Prepare accurate quotations and follow up to secure orders
- Manage orders from enquiry through to completion, ensuring proactive communication on progress or delays
- Provide customers with clear information on stock, availability, pricing, and product suitability
- Liaise with suppliers for products outside in-house manufacturing
- Accurately enter all enquiries, quotes, and orders into the system and ensure daily follow-up
- Monitor and share market trends and competitor activity
- Support sales growth by working proactively to increase order intake
- Adhere to established company procedures, sales strategies, and quality standards

Requirements
As the Sales Engineer, you will have:
- Knowledge: Power transmission systems, components, and industry standards
- Education: HND or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Experience: Working in an engineering technical sales environment
- Skills:
- Engineering knowledge to include selections, drawings, and practices
- Ability to propose solutions to specific customer applications
- Strong communicator with excellent telephone skills
- Technical Skills:
- IT literate, with solid knowledge of MS Office (Excel & Outlook essential)
- Experience with Zoho software is an advantage, however, this is not essential
- Personal Attributes:
- Flexible, reliable, and driven with a strong work ethic
- Positive, professional, and adaptable, with a willingness to learn and embrace change
