Role Purpose
Location: Nottingham, UK
Level: Strategic Leader
Department: Revenue
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Benefits: Benefits at Ideagen
Salary: To be discussed at next stage
This is not a traditional Solutions Engineering leadership role.
As leader of Sales Engineering for EMEA, you will manage Sales Engineering as a revenue engine, not a support function. You will be accountable for how deals are discovered, positioned, demonstrated, and won.
Ideagen operates a globally defined Sales Engineering model. Your mandate is to execute within that model at a high bar, while ensuring it works in real customer conversations across EMEA
This role requires someone who can stay close to the work and the deals, while also shaping capability, consistency, and future performance. You will be expected to elevate standards quickly and measurably.
This role favors leaders who thrive in hands on engagement rather than primarily from process stewardship or remote people management.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high performing team of 7 Sales Engineers across EMEA.
- Coach in real deals to raise the bar on discovery, demos, and execution.
- Act as a direct revenue partner to Sales leadership, influencing complex and strategic opportunities.
- Ensure Sales Engineering is engaged early and effectively in the sales cycle.
- Reinforce global standards while adapting execution to the EMEA market dynamics.
- Improve win rates, deal quality, and sales cycle efficiency using deal insight and data.
- Embed Ideagen’s AI capabilities into customer conversations and internal ways of working.
- Create strong feedback loops with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Skills And Experience
- Demonstrated depth of experience in managing Sales Engineering or pre sales teams.
- Proven experience leading and developing high performing individual contributors.
- Commercially sharp, with a clear understanding of how deals are won and lost.
- A hands on coach who can materially improve discovery, demos, and deal execution.
- Comfortable operating in complex, multi product environments.
- Able to balance technical depth with commercial clarity and customer relevance.
- Experience in regulated industries such as EHS, Quality, or Compliance is great but not required.
- Confident working in an agile, global, matrixed organization.
Most importantly, you are not a maintainer. You challenge assumptions, raise standards, and drive visible improvement. You are comfortable being close to the work while shaping what comes next.
This is an opportunity to lead and shape Sales Engineering in a high growth, private equity backed GRC business. Your impact will be measured by revenue performance, execution quality, and the strength of the team you build.
