I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing a pipeline of warm, pre-qualified customers who have already expressed interest in finance, so your focus is on converting rather than cold prospecting.
- Speaking with customers over the phone and via digital channels to understand their financial needs, circumstances, and goals.
- Building strong rapport quickly, asking the right questions, and guiding customers through available finance options in a clear, supportive way.
- Keeping customers updated throughout the process, managing expectations, and delivering a high-quality customer experience from first contact to completion.
What you’ll need:
- At least 12 months of experience in a sales or customer-focused role, ideally within a target-driven environment.
- A background in roles such as telesales, car sales, estate agency, contact centres, or financial services would be highly beneficial.
- Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to build trust and explain information clearly and confidently.
- A proactive, positive attitude with a genuine passion for helping customers find the right solution.
- Confidence working towards targets, with resilience and motivation to overcome objections and close deals.
