Sales Executive (Founding Team)

Second Gears | Hybrid, East Midlands | Full-time, Permanent

£25,000 base + commission (OTE £28,000–£30,000)

About Second Gears

Second Gears is the UK's online platform for buying and selling crashed, damaged, written-off, and non-running vehicles: Cat S and Cat N write-offs, MOT failures, non-runners, and every imperfect car in between.

When a vehicle is written off, most drivers don't realize they can retain it from their insurer and sell it themselves. Traditionally those cars go to auction, where huge fees and middlemen absorb a large slice of the value. Second Gears changes that. Sellers list free, connect directly with verified trade buyers, and keep the margin that would normally go to an auction house.

For trade buyers, including salvage companies, dealers, rebuilders, and parts specialists, the platform is a direct pipeline of stock: a constant flow of damaged and repairable vehicles sourced straight from owners.

We're founder-led, growing quickly, and entering the next stage of growth: expanding how the platform generates revenue and scaling both our buyer and seller base. This role will play a key part in launching and supporting that next phase of the business.

The Opportunity

This is our first commercial hire.

  • You’ll work directly with the founder and own a role that’s roughly 70% sales and 30% customer success.
  • You’ll help grow our trade buyer subscriptions while improving seller conversion across the platform.
  • We’re entering the next stage of growth, expanding how the platform generates revenue and scaling both our buyer and seller base. This role will play a key part in helping launch and support that next phase of the business.
  • You won’t inherit scripts.
  • You won’t inherit a playbook.
  • You’ll help build both.
  • We’re looking for someone who naturally spots opportunities, enjoys speaking to people, and wants to help build a company from an early stage.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
