Espex Batteries Ltd supports the UK’s warehousing and distribution infrastructure by ensuring forklift fleets and other motive power equipment remain reliable. As the European subsidiary of Exide Industries Ltd, Espex provides CEIL Trusted Battery Systems across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. With an extensive stock of up to 25,000 batteries (including traction, automotive SLI, motive power, and forklift batteries/chargers), the company delivers responsive support, a loyal customer base, and a national network of engineers and fitters.
Role: Sales Development Executive
Core Responsibilities
Sales Development & Customer Relationships:
- Prospect and approach potential customers (battery specialists, motor factors, workshops, retailers, and automotive resellers).
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and new customers to drive continued business growth.

Field Work & Representation:
- Conduct daily customer visits to assess needs, introduce products, and drive sales.
- Execute professional in-person representation, aligning with Espex’s corporate values.
Sales Target Achievement:
- Meet or exceed predefined sales targets within the assigned region.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement tailored sales strategies for regional market dynamics.
Reporting & Insights:
- Prepare regular sales and activity reports, documenting:
- Customer feedback
- Market trends
- Performance metrics
- Contribute data-driven insights to refine product positioning and enhance customer engagement.
Collaboration:
- Coordinate between HQ in Cardiff and the Leeds operation for seamless customer service and logistics.

Market Awareness:
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor movement, and regional dynamics to uncover growth opportunities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in automotive aftermarket sales, ideally specialising in battery products.
- Desirable: 5–10 years’ experience in the designated Northern England & Midlands area.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive distribution networks and regional market dynamics.
- Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in sales reporting, data analysis, and forecasting.
- Valid driver’s license; extensive regional travel readiness required.
