Sales Executive

Reporting to the Director of Sales, this is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and proactive Sales Executive to join one of York's most iconic hotels.

Working closely with the commercial team, you'll play a key role in driving revenue across all market segments, developing new business opportunities and nurturing relationships with our valued clients. No two days are the same, and you'll enjoy a varied role that combines sales, account management, networking and market analysis.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities across all market segments, converting prospects into loyal clients.
  • Take ownership of an allocated portfolio of corporate and LNR accounts, maintaining and developing relationships to maximise revenue opportunities for both The Milner York and the wider RBH portfolio where appropriate.
  • Build strong relationships with key clients and partners, ensuring exceptional service and long-term retention.
  • Respond to corporate RFPs, negotiate annual rate agreements and manage all account re-contracting in line with agreed financial KPIs.
  • Support the conversion of the hotel's new business pipeline, helping to deliver annual budget targets and maximise revenue opportunities.
  • Analyse local market trends and competitor activity to uncover opportunities and maintain our competitive edge.
  • Host client visits and familiarisation trips, and represent the hotel at networking events, trade shows and industry exhibitions.
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure the seamless delivery of in-house events, groups and functions.
  • Accurately maintain customer records and opportunities within Salesforce, ensuring information is always up to date.
  • Work within agreed commercial strategies whilst recognising opportunities to enhance performance and revenue

What We're Looking For

At The Milner York, we recruit for personality and potential as much as experience. We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, commercially minded and passionate about building relationships.

You'll Ideally Have

  • A minimum of one year's sales experience within hospitality or a service-led environment.
  • Knowledge of corporate and conference market segments.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan ahead and prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with confidence dealing with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach and genuine enthusiasm for uncovering new opportunities and winning business.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and perform under pressure whilst maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Experience of Salesforce and Opera or Opera Cloud would be advantageous.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Above all, a positive attitude, strong work ethic and a desire to be part of something special.
