Senior SME Sales Executive – Ecotricity
About the Role
We are seeking an SME Sales Executive to join our rapidly expanding business sales team, focused on growing Ecotricity’s SME customer base in line with forecasted growth.
The primary responsibility is driving new business acquisition through effective account management while collaborating with cross-functional teams to retain and expand energy contracts.
This is a dynamic, challenging, and rewarding role requiring strong communication, organisational abilities, and a commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Location: Based within reasonable commuting distance of Ecotricity’s office in Stroud, Gloucestershire, with a weekly office attendance requirement.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver individual sales targets aligned with the overall B2B plan
- Provide exceptional customer service through strong relationship-building and needs-based engagement
- Produce quotations for gas and power contracts, from tenders through negotiations and closure
- Implement a proactive contact strategy to engage existing clients and pursue new business
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to promote the company brand and cross-sell products
- Identify innovative solutions to secure new clients
- Support new product/ service launches and leverage opportunities for cross-selling
- Handle internal account requests, including sales callbacks, industry queries, and general management
- Provide aftersales support and customer care
- Attend client meetings as required
- Prepare standard and ad-hoc reports for senior leadership
- Ensure availability for calls and proactive teamwork to maintain coverage on sales lines
- Manage tenant turnover processing in CRM and Salesforce systems
- Proactively follow up on sales opportunities

Essential Skills & Qualifications
Technical & Analytical
- Understanding of the energy industry (desirable, but not essential)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and identify growth opportunities
- Demonstrable commercial acumen in evaluating prospects and strategies
Interpersonal & Relationship Management
- Ability to build and leverage relationships with senior stakeholders and customers
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional networker, excelling in both internal and external partnerships
Organisational & Operational
- High level of numeracy and problem-solving ability
- Strong time management and organisational capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure
- Confident in leading focused external meetings and discussions
Soft Skills & Mindset
- Strategic contributor to the B2B strategy, including specific channel strategies
- Adaptability and flexibility, prepared to take on additional responsibilities as needed
