Global Licensing Specialist (Home Energy) – Europe

Our licensing programme extends the Duracell brand globally through strategic partnerships across adjacent product categories.
This is a senior individual contributor or manager-level role within Duracell’s Global Licensing function, based in Europe. The primary mission is to drive Duracell’s growth in the home energy storage sector—one of the company’s high-priority strategic areas—by identifying, signing, and managing licensee partnerships across solar, inverters, and battery storage systems. This role will serve as Duracell’s home energy storage expert globally.
In addition, the oversight responsibility includes an established portfolio of licensees in complementary categories—such as EV charging, flashlights, powerbanks, and consumer electronics accessories—across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Licensing & Growth Leadership
- Develop and execute a European licensing strategy for Duracell-branded home energy products, including solar panels, inverters, and battery storage systems.
- Act as Duracell’s internal subject matter expert (SME) for home energy licensing, advocacy cross-functional alignment with Legal, Brand, Finance, and Marketing.
- Identify, evaluate, and approach prospective licensee partners with strong manufacturing, distribution, and go-to-market capabilities in Europe.
Deal & Portfolio Management
- Lead end-to-end deal negotiations, covering:
- Commercial terms
- Royalty structures
- Minimum guarantees
- Product approval processes
- Contractual compliance requirements
- Manage the full licensee lifecycle:
- Onboarding and product development approvals
- Go-to-market launch support
- Regular business reviews
- Renewal or exit management

Market Intelligence & Competitive Oversight
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and regulatory developments in European home energy markets, including solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and grid-tied inverters.
- Anticipate shifts in US preparation, charging, and energy storage regulations affecting the European market.
“Connector” Role in the Startup & Innovation Ecosystem
Duracell requires a proactive “Connector” to build and maintain relationships with European innovation hubs and high-tech startups:
- Represent Duracell to startup events, accelerators, universities, and incubators including:
- UK/Golden Triangle: Cross support, EF, CU Ltd, Oxford University Innovation
- Europe: Berlin Tech Circle, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Paris, and other energy/startup hotspots
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of early-stage companies with emerging home energy, power, or adjacent technology—2-3 years from maturity.
- Build an internal intelligence database tracking emerging companies (technology, funding, licensing potential).
- Generate regular reports for Global Head of Licensing and analytics.
Support Across Existing Licensees
- Manage and develop existing licensee relationships in EV charging, flashlights, powerbanks, and consumer electronics, ensuring:
- Brand compliance
- Commercial performance
- Contractual adherence
- Identify growth opportunities and new product introductions within the portfolio.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders on product approvals, quality, and compliance issues.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- 7–10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in licensing, business development, or strategic partnerships.
- 2–5 years of recent, hands-on experience directly in home energy storage (BESS, solar PV, battery storage, O&M). Remote experience is not sufficient.
- Demonstrated ability to speak about OEMs, distributors, and technology partners in the sector.
- Proven track record in successful commercial licensing, including brand licensing for consumer or industrial applications.
- Experience managing multiple commercial relationships simultaneously, with strong reporting and governance capability.
- Ability to operate effectively across European markets—regulatory, commercial, and cultural understanding.

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in licensing functions for consumer goods or technology (either licensor or licensee).
- Familiarity with EV charging infrastructure, portable power products, or consumer electronics accessories.
- Experience in a global, matrixed organization with cross-regional brand governance.
- Existing network within European home energy, EV charging, or manufacturers/distributors.
- Demonstrated engagement with incubators, accelerators, or university spinouts, with UK golden triangle contact advantage.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Engineering or a relevant field).
- MBA or postgraduate qualification is an advantage but not mandatory.
Skills & Competencies
- Commercial acumen: Skill in dealing structuring and negotiation with a results-first mindset.
- Technical understanding: Home energy solution battery chemistries and system design.
- Market intelligence: Assessing business opportunities and evaluating partner capabilities.
- Relationship management: Trusted, long-term partnerships with senior-state licensee stakeholders.
- Brand integrity: Upholding compliance in a licensing model.
- Communication: Fluent business English, optional business-level Spanish.
- Organization: Ability to handle a highly complex workload across geographies and categories.
