Sales Manager
Contract: 12 month Fixed Term Contract
Location: Southampton / Eastleigh
Office based, with occasional travel required to attend customer meetings
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 17:30pm
Salary: £65,000 per annum
Car Allowance: £5000 per annum
Purpose of the Job
Drive the plan within the CE channel to deliver year-on-year profitable growth, through effective sales strategies. The candidate should have a detailed understanding and experience within the UK & Ireland CE retail markets, including Amazon, Argos, Currys, JLP, Shop Direct, WHSmith Travel, etc. The candidate will be responsible for managing a team of high performers, able to set objectives and targets, alongside a desire to support and progress their development. An important part of this role is to be the primary account lead for several of our strategically important customers.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Create and take ownership of a sales strategy for the CE market in the UK and Ireland, which is aligned with the overall regional sales strategy, and maximises sales opportunities in existing markets, whilst seeking new potential channels for sustainable growth by ethical sales methods
- Build and develop an effective product and pricing roadmap for the channel through close and cooperative working with the HoS, local Product Management and Marketing teams
- Provide regular accurate reporting to the Head of Sales on account financial results versus sales in and profit targets, plans for incremental growth &/or combat headwinds, monitoring of sales out performance and monthly/quarterly projections
- Accountable for the divisional / account forecasting, working collaboratively with the UK & Ireland Demand Planner for the inclusion in the rolling forecast and sales budget analysis, meeting accuracy levels set by the business and ensuring stock levels are appropriate
- Regular reviews of market trends, customer activity and performance, and horizon scanning for areas of potential
- Continuously monitor the market for developments, competitive threats and opportunities using and producing business reports and forecasts
- Work closely with our key retail accounts to develop tactical business plans and identify future revenue streams
- Build and maintain excellent business relationships with internal stakeholders, new and existing customers, suppliers, and industry representatives (where appropriate)
- Contribute to effective marketing plans by working closely with the marketing team to create marketing plans with customers that will guide product introduction, trade show participation and other key activities during the life cycle of the products
- Ensure accurate financial Sales reporting and information through working with the Sales Support/Admin and Finance teams to provide data on sales, profitability, accruals, co-op, SOA’s, etc.
- Monitor and support the Regional Sales and Marketing teams to ensure Garmin products are presented to an excellent standard at retail, both instore &/or online
- Support the senior leadership/management team with reporting and sales meeting preparation, to ensure content is delivered on time
- Recommend and report on new products required to meet competitive challenges or to exploit new market opportunities
- Where relevant, work closely with 3rd party suppliers and other organisations related to the business, to ensure the best possible advantages for Garmin
- Resolve customer complaints where necessary, ensuring that problems are effectively resolved, and complaints are reduced to a minimum
- Attend and present at external customer meetings and during internal forums with other company functions, necessary to perform duties and aid business development
- Attend internal and external training sessions, to develop relevant knowledge base, techniques and skills
- Attend brand &/or sales events where required, and the ability to travel on business domestically and internationally as required
- And any other duties as deemed necessary by the Head of Sales

- Significant sales with line management and additional experience in product and marketing preferable
- Experience within consumer electronics, and within similar markets would be advantageous
- Experience of creating effective sales strategies and plans leading to increased sales and maximising profitability
- Full driving license
- Keen interest in the outdoors, health and fitness is desirable
