Sales Manager
Sales Manager – Radar Solutions ( Ըole-Time, Hybrid)
Location: Reading, Crawley, Bristol, Templecombe and Belfast (any Thales UK office)
About the Role
Join Thales UK in shaping next-generation radar solutions to bolster the UK’s air defence and critical infrastructure security.
As a Sales Manager within Thales’ Integrated Air Surveillance (IAS) business, you’ll:
- Drive high-impact radar sales across UK Defence, including National Air Surveillance System (NASS) programmes
- Lead multinational capture campaigns to secure major radar solutions
- Collaborate with government agencies, the Ministry of Defence (MoD), and senior stakeholders
- Innovate in air defence technologies: national-level airspace security (advanced radars & C2 systems), medium-range weapon systems, and tactical short-range air defence
This is a centre-meet role with visits to strategic customer engagements and international travel (30-50%), reporting to the Sales Director (Advanced Operations Worldwide - AOW).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership
- Develop an UK-specific Radar sales strategy aligned with Frustrum Defence and FARM goals, focusing on growth and market dominance in air defence radar systems
- Identify and qualify high-value opportunities across government contracts, establishing a strong, sustainable pipeline
- Map customer ecosystems using Blue Sheet methodology (or equivalent), engaging key stakeholders in complex organisations
Capture & Proposal Excellence
- Define long-term capture strategies and lead multinational campaigns from opportunity shaping to contract signature
- Partner with engineering, marketing, bid, and commercial teams to deliver cutting-edge proposals and tender responses
- Drive customer presentations, solution demos, and contract negotiations with the MoD, policing authority, and critical national infrastructure stakeholders
Stakeholder & Industry Influence
- Elevate Thales brand awareness as a Radar subject matter expert at trade shows, industry events, and conferences (e.g., Defence Equipment International, DSEI)
- Subject insights to engineering/technical teams to shape future-proof, competitive solutions grounded in emerging threats (AI-driven radar, Cyber vs Airspace threats)
- Manage competitor intelligence and Radar technology trends to stay ahead of the industry curve

Compliance & Team Collaboration
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with Health & Security Export Controls (ESER) and UK regulatory requirements
- Work cross-functionally across Hybrid, Timber, and SBU (Long, Nail Khan) teams, bridging sales, marketing, and technical divisions
