Role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager to lead and expand IPL Schoeller’s Environmental sales operations in the UK market. The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing key customer relationships, driving sales growth, managing a diverse team of sales individuals and support functions, target setting and management, data set creations, and promoting IPLS’s full range of environmental products.
The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, a strong commercial mindset, and can offer new ideas and challenge and drive teams to ensure that we can provide our customers with products that match or exceed their needs and expectations to enable growth to be achieved.
The successful candidate will combine strong sector knowledge with a consultative, customer-focused approach. They will bring knowledge within the environmental sector, strong team management skills, alongside the commercial capability to manage complex negotiations and high-value accounts.
As this is a re-established role, the successful candidate will need to be able to work autonomously and take responsibility for supporting an effective strategy to enable IPL Schoeller to successfully grow market share in the UK environmental market. This role will also act as a key link between customers and internal teams, ensuring commercial commitments are aligned with production, quality, logistics, and supply chain capabilities. A strong focus on service excellence, cross-functional collaboration, and long-term account retention will be essential.

Responsibilities
- B2B & Public Sector Sales: Secure major supply contracts with local authorities, commercial waste management companies, and new customers
- Pipeline & Target Management: Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and Gross Profit objectives.
- Work with the Sales Director to support strategy (short, medium, and long term) for future growth.
- Achieve (as a minimum) annual budget targets, whilst building relationships and understanding and anticipating customer trends.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities while expanding existing customer relationships.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions.
- Represent the business at trade fairs & exhibitions.
- Oversee key account negotiations, pricing strategies, and contract management.
- Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
- Ensure accurate sales forecasting, pipeline management, and reporting using CRM tools.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
- Managing people to deliver KPIs aligned to budget and growth.
- Responsibility for driving data sets to identify opportunity markets, lost and lapsed, trends, sales opportunities, pricing trends, etc.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the plastics packaging industry.
- Strong knowledge of plastic packaging materials (HDPE, PP) and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth through accounts.
- Experience in client acquisition and relationship management.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to close deals.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and sales analytics tools.
- Management experience (nonessential but preferred).
- Experience in managing accuracy in budgets and forecasting across multiple sites.
- Ability to cross collaborate with teams in manufacturing, finance, HR, CS, etc.
This role is based on site in Rotherham.
