Sales Manager – FMCG New Business
Manchester Area | Hybrid/office based in Widnes ideally once per week
Are you looking for something where you can carve out your own role, but are given the structure, and goals to work towards so you know what’s expected?
We are looking for a driven sales person who thrives in ‘quick win’ environments while also enjoying using strategy to focus on what needs selling, and what alternatives can be used for unavailable products. It’s not just a ‘sell sell sell’ role. It’s using your knowledge of stock, and industry products to reduce waste and maximise revenue, and your own commission.
The role will focus on a few existing clients who have potential to grow, but the main focus on the role will be opening up new opportunities across distribution, retail, wholesale or foodservice sectors. It’s yours to build how you like.
And once you’re settled, you have the budget to build your team, motivate and mentor them, shaping the department as you want to.
This business has a huge range of products and covers a variety of sectors. Their capabilities are almost limitless, so there’s huge potential here for success.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
