Sales Manager in Power, Transmission & Distribution Sector

ersg is searching for a Sales Manager in the Power, Transmission & Distribution sector, specifically selling HV GIS switchgear (132kV to 400kV). Our client is hiring due to growth, going from 1 transformer projects to delivering over 100 projects in the UK. Candidates with experience of working on major projects, building relationships and selling to TSOs or DNOs.

This role requires technical acumen, understanding the value proposition of non-SF6 switchgear vs SF6 switchgear. It is essential that you have experience of selling to HV projects (132kV to 400kV). Responsibilities include:

  • Drive sustainable order intake by proactively identifying, cultivating, and securing new business opportunities across both existing and prospective customers.
  • Expand the customer portfolio through strategic business development, targeted customer engagement, and the development of long-term, value-driven relationships.
  • Develop and execute high-impact sales strategies and customer engagement plans that align with the Company's commercial objectives and growth ambitions.
  • Lead pre-qualification, vendor registration, and compliance activities to position the Company for participation in key tender opportunities.
  • Evaluate and interpret commercial and technical tender documentation, formulate competitive bid strategies, and coordinate the preparation of compelling, compliant proposals to maximize win rates.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
