Sales Manager – North East England (UK)
TOMRA Collection
Company Description
TOMRA was founded in 1972 with the design of reverse vending machines (RVMs) for automated recycling. Today, TOMRA enables the circular economy through advanced collection, sorting, and processing solutions—using sensor-based technology to grade and sort materials efficiently.
With 5,000 employees globally and listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSE: TOM), TOMRA was named Norway’s Most Innovative Business in 2023. TOMRA Collection is a leader in Clean Loop Recycling, driving sustainability through 85,000+ reverse vending system installations across over 60 markets.
The UK Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) launches in October 2027, creating crucial growth opportunities. TOMRA is pioneering the rollout of waste management solutions to support reusable materials through sorting, grading, and processing systems.
The Opportunity
As the UK builds its TOMRA organisation, we’re expanding our team to deliver industry-leading recycling and sorting systems. This is a hands-on, autonomy-focused role where you’ll take full responsibility for a strategy that builds relationships, secures partnerships, and shapes North East England’s recycling future.
As Sales Manager, you’ll establish growth by identifying market opportunities, deepening client relationships, and scaling TOMRA solutions across regional industries. You’ll thrive with the freedom to shape your strategy while benefiting from a collaborative, high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- New Business Development: Own all stages of the sales cycle—from initial contact to signed contracts.
- Customer Relationships: Build and nurture relationships with retailers, stakeholders, and industry partners ahead of DRS implementation.
- Solution Strategy: Align customer needs with TOMRA’s offerings—creating bespoke proposals that drive long-term value.
- Pilot & Trials: Offer real-world pilot projects to transition into stable, sustainable partnerships.
- Pipeline Management: Balance and prioritise activities to maximise revenue opportunities.
- Representation: Lead TOMRA’s brand and insights at industry events and key meetings.
- Local Impact: Contribute to TOMRA’s growth in North East England, linking directly to wider UK objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
