Sales Manager/Engineer – Job Overview

Responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong sales pipeline to achieve and exceed the company's commercial targets. The role combines technical expertise with sales to identify new business opportunities, build customer relationships, provide tailored solutions, and support business growth.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal management to set up and achieve an annual sales target
  • Manage relationships with owners, managers, and business leads; follow leads through to contract execution.
  • Contact potential customers and partners, including cold calls, to generate leads
  • Initiate, follow up, acquire, maintain, and manage the sales network in the relevant markets, including waste management, agriculture and municipalities
  • Lead on the increase of the operations & maintenance support contracts of existing AD plants
  • Build-up, maintain and improve a solid pipeline of projects and a strong customer base
  • Collect market intelligence and return feedback on the interested market sector to internal structures
  • Coordinate with applications engineering to develop competent technical solutions to meet customer needs
  • Follow through and negotiate to close the sales contract
  • Review and refresh marketing efforts, expand in existing markets and collaborate with the Anaergia team to develop new market penetration strategies.
  • Represent the company at the relevant trade fairs and communication events
  • Monitor and communicate new products, industry trends, competitor strengths and weaknesses

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Environmental and Life Sciences, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a position of sales engineering in the industry of environmental services, wastewater and waste treatment, waste to energy, or renewable energy area and should have proven track record.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Good technical understanding of wastewater, biogas, anaerobic digestion, renewable energy and/or waste management and recycling processes
  • Excellent negotiating, networking and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledgeable about national regulations for the design & operation of waste treatment, biogas and biomethane plants, digestate and biosolids, planning application process, grid connection process and similar
  • Skills in all MS Office tools and ability to adapt to new digital tools
  • Excellent in English, written and spoken

In order to do their job with adequate professionalism and with the right "sense of priority", the Sales Manager/Engineer must understand how their activity influences other functions and how other functions can influence, positively or negatively, the achievement of their objectives.

The competences should include, but not be limited to:

  • Principles of plant sizing and process design
  • Project costing and budgeting
  • Planning and permitting process
  • Construction process, times and models
  • Capital expenditures, and O&M expenditures
  • Return on investment in projects
  • Management policies of after-sales activities
