Sales & Marketing Manager Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, energetic and technically-minded person, with a strong background in sales and marketing, to become TSL’s new Sales & Marketing Manager. A competitive package will be offered based on experience, with the successful applicant taking on the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop the company's sales and marketing strategy in alignment with its growth objectives.
- Identify new target markets, sectors and customers for TSL's products and capabilities.
- Define and maintain pricing strategies.
- Build a sales team capable of continuing to deliver excellent customer service for our OEM, re-seller and non-standard product customers as the company grows.
- Streamline administration processes to allow growth of sales volume.
- Contribute to overall business planning as part of the senior leadership team.
Sales Management & Revenue Growth
- Own and deliver annual sales targets (revenue, margin, pipeline).
- Build, manage, and optimise the company's Netsuite CRM package.
- Lead key account management for strategic commercial partners.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities (UK and international markets).
- Negotiate contracts, framework agreements, and long-term supply deals.
- Monitor KPIs such as: Revenue and growth, conversion rates, average order value, sales margins, pipeline opportunity values and/or probability.
Marketing Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement marketing plans focused on lead generation.
- Oversee digital marketing (website, search engine optimisation, LinkedIn, pay per click, email campaigns), content marketing (technical case studies, whitepapers, product data sheets), and trade shows and exhibitions (UK and international).
- Ensure consistent brand messaging aligned with technical capabilities and innovation.
- Manage marketing budget and ROI tracking.

Customer & Market Insight
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies.
- Market price analysis for new and existing products.
- Gather customer feedback to inform product development and improvement.
- Segment markets and identify high-value opportunities.
- Translate technical product features into customer-focused benefits.
Product & Commercial Development
- Work closely with the Engineering and Operations teams on new product development, go-to-market strategies and pricing models.
- Support bid/tender responses, including complex technical proposals.
- Align sales strategy with manufacturing capabilities and capacity.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the sales and marketing team (internal staff and external agents/distributors).
- Set clear objectives and performance metrics.
- Build a high-performance, commercially focused culture.
Collaboration Across the Business
- Act as the link between customers, Engineering, Operations, and Finance.
- Ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and delivered.
- Support production planning through accurate demand forecasting.

Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to UK and international commercial laws, contract terms and risk management.
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001:2015 and transition to the incoming ISO9001:2026 standard.

High quality components and instrumentation are manufactured in cleanroom conditions; facilities include CNC milling and turning, vacuum brazing, TIG welding, helium leak testing, residual gas analysis, e-beam and sputter coating systems, a glass shop and high-end optical testing equipment.
