Sales Specialist
Sales Specialist – Grid & Power Quality Solutions Hitachi Energy HBUEU (Europe), Home-based with European travel

About the Role
You’ll report to the UK Sales and Market Manager for Grid & Power Quality Solutions, working cross-functionally on large projects with the Bid and Sales team. Your core mission is to:
- Lead opportunity capture – Guide the capture team to develop and position Hitachi Energy as the preferred supplier.
- Delay adversarial bids – Support high-quality, strategically aligned proposals, negotiations and successful contract closures.
- Collaborate, communicate honestly, and strategically meet deadlines with Health and Safety as a priority.
Location: Primarily home-based, with travel to customers and country business meetings across Europe.

Key Responsibilities
Opportunity & Bid Management
- Focus on quality bids with de-risked strategies aligning to Hitachi Energy’s performance drivers.
- Ensure submissions are financially sound, transparent, and aligned with forecast opportunities.
- Technical evaluation of client documents to understand requirements and assess commercial terms.
Bid Preparation
- Oversee competitive bids/estimates, reasoning system mixes, and ensuring commercial alignment.
- Coordinate technical, financial, cash flow, and operational bid components, including pricing and trading terms.
Delivery & Relationships
- Meet all key submission deadlines.
- Deliver consistent results, prioritising financial discipline, health and safety compliance, and customer-centric strategies.
Client Engagement
- Deepen customer relationships to align on their needs, championing Hitachi Energy to stakeholders.
Must-have Expertise & Experience
- Proven track record in:
- Sales – selling solutions, not just products, focused on winning reliable opportunities.
- Account management within sustainable energy or complementary sectors.
- Strong account management skills to establish and retain client relationships.
- Technical grounding:
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in engineering or a STEM field.
- Knowledge of High Voltage (HV) networks (400kV–132kV) and Medium Voltage (MV) systems (66kV–11kV), plus industrial substations preferred.
