Sales Specialist / Executive

Sales Specialist – Builders Merchant (Saffron Walden)

About the Role

Our client is a successful builders merchant seeking an experienced Sales Professional for an account management and business development opportunity.

This is a proactive, customer-facing role with a focus on maintaining satisfaction, attention to detail, and driving sales growth. The ideal candidate will thrive in a varied environment, engaging with clients through in-person interactions, phone calls, and email—a mix of Internal Sales Specialist, Trade Counter, and External Sales responsibilities.

The role is perfect for those with construction sector experience (or related sales expertise) who want to contribute to a supportive company with strong career prospects and internal promotion opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves a dynamic mix of:

  • Client engagement & sales development
    • Speaking to customers face-to-face, over the phone, and via email.
    • Asking insightful questions to understand project needs.
    • Gathering quote enquiries and building strong customer relationships.
    • Upselling relevant products (e.g., hardwood/softwood, stairs, doors, landscaping materials).
    • Demonstrating quick thinking and confidence, especially while resolving customer queries.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
