About West Technology Forensics

West Technology Forensics, established in 1993, is the global market leader in Vacuum Metal Deposition (VMD) technology for latent fingerprint development. Following the successful launch of two new forensic products in 2025 (AminoVac & Mo-Sho) and with further innovations in development, the business is expanding its team to meet increasing customer demand. This position sits within the forensic sales division and works in close partnership with customers, commercial stakeholders, and R&D to drive customer success and support ongoing product innovation.

Role Summary

The Sales Specialist will be responsible for building and developing relationships with existing and prospective customers within the forensic science domain. The role is highly customer facing and consultative, involving site visits, demonstrations, workshops, and event support, alongside office-based work including customer support, quoting, marketing support, and product positioning.

This is not a hard-sales role. Success in this position depends on trust building, natural curiosity, and the ability to hold in-depth conversations about forensic workflows and operational challenges. Insights gained in the field will be shared with R&D to support ongoing product development. Regular global travel should be expected to account for up to 50% of your time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and develop trusted, long-term relationships with forensic laboratories and related stakeholders
  • Conduct consultative discussions to understand customer operations and future needs
  • Travel to customer laboratories as and when required
  • Deliver and support product demonstrations, workshops, and customer presentations
  • Support trade shows and forensic industry events (in-person and marketing support)
  • Work with the wider organisation to help develop product and commercial strategies
  • Manage your own diary, travel arrangements, and customer appointments
  • Proactively create and maintain customer appointments by phone and email using CRM database
  • Tailor product demonstrations to each customer’s current and future operational needs

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
