About the Role

Company & Team Context

This position is with Johnson & Johnson – DePuy Synthes, the largest and most innovative orthopaedic and neurological business globally. We specialize in:

  • Joint reconstruction
  • Trauma and spine solutions
  • Sports medicine
  • Neurological/interventional neuroscience
  • Biomaterials
  • Craniofacial and power tools

Purpose

As a Sales Specialist, you will drive growth in the North London & East Herts Region by:

  • Achieving sales targets through proactive account management.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders in secondary care to promote products and technologies.
  • Taking leadership in managing high-value specialty customers while balancing core business retention and competitor share expansion.
  • Developing tailored business plans to champion new technologies and procedural advancements.
  • Building deep customer relationships aligned to the JNJ Medical Devices Credo, ensuring alignment across teams for maximum impact.
  • Delivering specialist training and insights, fostering knowledge exchange between market trends and internal strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account & Territory Management:

    • Own and grow customer relationships through strategies rooted in understanding clinical/niche market needs.
    • Employ solutions-selling and consultative approaches to influence buying decisions.
    • Draft tactical account plans that align to both customers’ objectives and DePuy Synthes’ commercial goals.
    • Present value-driven propositions in business meetings, showcasing how DePuy Synthes addresses procedural challenges.
  • Market & Data Analysis:

    • Analyse account strategies using clinic-specific, competitive, and bioprofile data to identify opportunities and risks.
    • Collaborate with Marketing, Clinical Specialists, and Professional Education to shape and champion value propositions.
  • Training & Product Advocacy:

    • Lead KOL and clinical training initiatives, aligning with the Professional Education journey to drive product adoption.
    • Build trusted advisor relationships by consistently demonstrating procedural and product expertise.
    • Elevate brand alignment by embodying the Company’s commitment to ethics and technologies.
  • Team Collaboration & Proactive Engagement:

    • Partner with colleagues (Marketing, Clinical Specialists, ComEx) to align resources and close gaps.
    • Act as an ambassador for DePuy Synthes' medical solutions, embedding them as the *preferred choice for surgical teams.
  • Model our commercial excellence and one-J&J collaborative ethos, reporting to the Regional Sales Manager in Leeds.


Who You Are

Ideal Candidate Profile

Essential: A proven track record in high-impact sales, ideally within Medical Devices (Orthopedics, Neurology, and/or Surgical tools are advantageous).

  • Clinical Agility: Readily understands first-person operator experiences, team dynamics, and procedural changing forces.
  • Networking Mastery: Proactively expands networks to establish collaborations with surgeons, consultants, and hospitals.
  • Consultative Sales Mindset: Asks probing questions to uncover stakes and provide solution-focused value. Builds long-term trusts over transactions.
  • Adaptability: Transitions confidently between individual processes, relationship initiatives, and strategic positioning—balancing “relationship selling” with open revenue potential.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • +3 years in Medical Device sales with a focus on elective surgical targets or advanced trauma recovery.
  • ** ниgastro-or trends and challenges across trauma, joint replacement leagues balancing product detail with strategic alignment.
