About the Role
For the Sales Specialist NGS role, you’ll play a pivotal part in our commercial strategy by promoting and selling IDT’s NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) products in collaboration with Territory Sales Managers across the UK. This responsibility includes:
- Driving business development through strategic account management, customer consultations, and partnership growth.
- Converting leads into profitable revenue streams while ensuring high customer satisfaction.
- Researching market trends and developing tailored sales strategies to expand the NGS business in the assigned region.
As an entirely remote team member, you’ll contribute to IDT’s global unity: championing differences, engaging in strategic discussions, and making an impact through remote collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Customer-Centric Sales & Growth
- Partner with Territory Sales Managers (TSMs) to refine account strategies, refine proposals, and overcome objections to accelerate deal closures.
- Bridge the divide between scientific insights and purchasing decisions, aiding TSMs in progressing high-value opportunities.
- Build long-term client relationships by anticipating short- and long-term needs, aligning solutions with IDT’s NGS portfolio.

Market & Strategy Leadership
- Identify market trends and analyse growth opportunities in life sciences diagnostics.
- Develop and execute a commercial strategy, including forecasting, market segmentation, and expansion planning.
- Leverage internal resources (R&D, customer support, supply chain) to enhance customer satisfaction and secure contracts/partnerships.
Collaboration & Collaboration Tools
- Continuously engage with IDT’s Territory Sales Managers, ensuring alignment between the teams’ shared objectives.
- Act as a remote team player, contributing to IDT’s collaborative culture and leveraging collective intelligence for success.
Requirements: Must-Haves & Extras
Essential Requirements
- Master’s degree in the Life Sciences field with extensive experience or a Bachelor’s degree paired with proven sales expertise of +3 years.
- Prior sales experience in life science reagents/consumables, with a solid understanding of NGS applications.
- Demonstrated ability to exceed sales targets, along with expertise in:
- Prospecting & territory management
- Lead qualification, negotiation, and deal closing
- Relationship-building at multiple customer levels (technical, managerial, executive)
- Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills—including presentation experience.

Bonus Profiles
- Lab/bench work experience (direct hands-on familiarity with IDT products).
- Sales management or key account management experience (honing ability to influence senior leadership).
- Proven analytical mindset and business acumen—reviewing sales data, refining market positioning, and recommending actionable steps.
