A rare opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to step into a role that sits at the intersection of technical sales expertise, customer engagement, and commercial growth. This position reports into the Head of Internal Sales & Customer Excellence, giving strong visibility and long-term progression potential. You’ll work closely with technical, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure solutions are accurate, competitive, and aligned to customer requirements.

The Role

You will play a key role in developing and growing customer relationships, combining technical understanding with commercial awareness to identify opportunities and deliver tailored solutions. This is a consultative internal sales role - focused on understanding customer needs, recommending the right solutions, and building long-term value. While there is an outbound element, success is driven by quality of engagement and technical sale credibility.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Development & Sales Activity

  • Build and develop relationships with new and existing customers
  • Identify opportunities within accounts through proactive engagement
  • Conduct targeted outbound activity based on identified opportunities
  • Follow up quotations and progress opportunities through to conversion
  • Support onboarding of new customers and accounts

Technical & Solution Support

  • Provide technical guidance and product recommendations to customers
  • Understand customer requirements and translate into appropriate solutions
  • Support the development of accurate quotations and proposals
  • Collaborate with technical teams on more complex solution requirements

Commercial Awareness

  • Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities within existing customer base
  • Develop understanding of customer applications and industry use cases
  • Maintain awareness of competitor activity and positioning

Collaboration & Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with Technical Services, Engineering, and Field Sales teams
  • Ensure opportunities are routed and progressed efficiently across functions
  • Support Fabrication, Assembly, and Build activity where relevant

Process & Pipeline Management

  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and opportunities
  • Manage pipeline activity to ensure consistent follow-up and progress
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal sales processes
