Sales Team Manager

Sales Manager

Mercia Group, part of Wilmington plc, are hiring a driven and people-focused Sales Manager to lead a high-performing sales team.


Location

Hybrid / Leicester – LE19 1SU


Compensation

  • Base Salary: £42,500 – £50,000 (DoE)
  • Commission: Up to £15,000

Contract Type

Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives on ownership and accountability, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on sales activity. You will inspire a high-performing Account Executive team, ensure consistent commercial success, and build impactful client relationships.


Job Purpose, Responsibilities & Tasks

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading, recruiting, and developing a team of Account Executives and Sales Development Reps (SDRs), driving high performance against targets
  • Designing and implementing sales strategies, scripts, and processes to optimise team efficiency and results
  • Monitoring pipelines, call activity, and sales metrics, identifying growth opportunities and reducing inefficiencies
  • Providing regular coaching, feedback, and performance management to foster individual growth
  • Managing and growing a portfolio of key client accounts, strengthening relationships and driving revenue
  • Handling escalated customer issues, ensuring positive and commercially sound resolutions
  • Producing detailed sales reports and business insights to inform strategic decisions
  • Identifying upsell, cross-sell, and new business opportunities across existing accounts

Requirements & Essential Skills

Must-Have Qualifications

✔ Proven experience leading and developing a successful sales team ✔ Strong track record of exceeding sales targets ✔ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to influence at all levels ✔ Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), Excel, and digital platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams) ✔ Experience in stakeholder management and performance reporting ✔ Demandable success in a comparable sales leadership role, including remote team management

Desirable Qualifications

🔹 Experience in B2B sales within regulated industries (e.g., accountancy, legal, education) 🔹 Familiarity with Salesforce, Marketo, or similar CRM/marketing platforms 🔹 Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness
