Role: Sales & Tendering Engineer
As a Sales & Tendering Engineer, you will be supporting customer enquiries and orders to the business. Compiling Multi-Utility Tenders together with the quality and commercial accuracy of tendered works within your remit. You shall build client relationships and have suitable and sufficient knowledge, training & experience to deliver competitive, robust, and accurate returns to your clients.
You should be comfortable with providing technical advice, meeting your clients face to face, with support where needed, whilst returning error-free and articulate bids.
Implementing HVSS practices and processes as well as customer satisfaction, you will ensure these tenders are completed on time and to specifications both adoptable and to client expectations, whilst delivering all project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Tender Design, Tender Proposal, and Estimating based on project requirement in multi-utilities
- Support the HVSS Regional Sales & Tendering Manager and Senior Sales & Tendering Engineer when requested to do so
- Represent HVSS in a professional, timely, and articulate manner, at all times, to all stakeholders
- Ensure that all assigned Tender Projects within your charge are prioritized and returned within the agreeable timeframes, compliant or appropriately qualified, and, when secured, carried through promptly to hand over to the Design team
- Proactively manage risk during the creation of the offering
- Achieve your individual project tendering quantity goals together with any yearly sales target
- Positively contribute to the overall company sales target
- Maintain Sales/Project Handover specific documentation in line with the company’s Business Management System (BMS)
- Maintain a Continual Professional Development (CPD) strategy

Essential Experience & Qualities
- A desire to succeed, learn, and apply skills
- Experience of working within a fast-paced utility/construction/services engineering sales team environment
- Proven experience of achieving sales targets
- An understanding of tendering construction projects within MEICA/Utility Technical Construction Environment &/or T&D networks
- NVQ Level 3 qualification in technical sales, engineering, construction, and/or management, &/or, equivalent knowledge, training, and experience
- An understanding of Construction, Design & Management Regulations 2015
- Design development experience
- Proven Experience in delivering robust quotation outputs
- Experience within the multi-utility industry
- AutoCAD Competence
- Competence with Word/Excel/PowerPoint
- Microsoft Project Competent to deliver simple tendering (baseline) programmes
- EUSR/CSCS/ECS
- First Aid at Work Certificate
- Organisational and Time Management
- Ability to compile professional correspondence
- Relationship management - Managing customer expectations
- Team working
- Effective Project Management skills
- Desire to succeed
- Desire to extend technical specialism to aid the Business

Desirable
- MIET or working toward
- Experience in working within a technical construction sale and estimating team
- An understanding of construction projects that fall within the classification of “notifiable” under the Construction, Design & Management Regulations 2015
- Knowledge &/or experience of working with ‘Trimble’ or equivalent
- Project Management experience
- Degree or equivalent qualification, lesser qualification with experience
- Good and relevant technical knowledge through experience, training, and/or education
- Training shall be provided to work towards an industry-recognised project management qualification
- Further training in technical aspects relevant to the effective delivery of projects and management of customers
