About The Role
We are seeking a talented Salesforce Developer to join our dynamic Product Engineering Team at 17918. This role is based in Winnersh, within the Reading area of the UK, and offers a hybrid work model requiring three days onsite per week. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Salesforce solutions for our flagship SaaS product, Sage People. Sage People is a comprehensive HR and people management platform built on the Salesforce platform, serving a global customer base. This position is ideal for professionals with a strong background in object-oriented programming and hands-on Salesforce development, who are eager to contribute to a cutting-edge product that emphasizes code quality, scalability, and long-term architecture. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a modern environment alongside experienced engineers, testers, architects, and product managers, all committed to delivering innovative solutions that impact organizations worldwide.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Proven experience in object-oriented programming languages such as Java or C#.
- Hands-on experience developing solutions on the Salesforce platform, including Apex, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components (LWC).
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Salesforce Lightning development.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Experience working with modern development tools such as Git, Jira, IntelliJ, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage and deliver complex technical projects.

Desirable but not essential:
- Salesforce Developer Certification
- Exposure to Salesforce REST APIs
- Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or SAFe
Open to experienced Salesforce developers or backend developers (Java/C#) looking to specialize in Salesforce development.
Responsibilities
As a Salesforce Developer at 17918, your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Salesforce solutions that support our global SaaS product, Sage People.
- Engaging in hands-on development using Apex, SOQL, JavaScript, and Lightning Web Components to deliver customer and people management functionalities.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Salesforce developers, frontend engineers, testers, product managers, and architects, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features.
- Participating in technical design discussions, architecture planning, and system thinking to enhance platform capabilities.
- Working within a modern development environment utilizing Git, Jira, IntelliJ, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable deployment processes.
- Contributing to the product roadmap, including the integration of AI-driven capabilities to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
- Adhering to best practices in coding, testing, and documentation to maintain high standards of quality and performance.
- Actively participating in Agile ceremonies such as Scrum or SAFe, quarterly planning, and product releases to ensure alignment with business goals.
