Salesforce Developer and Functional Architect – Fixed Term Contract

The Technology Department ensures scalability, security, and innovation. It covers:
- Digital tools and software development delivered via agile ‘streams’ aligned to business areas
- Enterprise-wide services, including:
- Global service desk

- IT operations and security
- Enterprise architecture and design
The Software Development function creates and maintains applications, frameworks, and software components to meet business needs. Developers handle:
- Design, engineering, documentation, testing, and bug fixes
- End-to-end solution delivery aligned with Marex’s business divisions
- Collaboration with Business Technology and Application Support teams
About the Role
As a hands-on Salesforce Developer and Functional Architect, you will define, design, and deliver end-to-end Salesforce solutions—bridging business strategy with hands-on execution. This role combines functional leadership with technical delivery, ensuring business requirements evolve into scalable, user-centric platforms.
The ideal candidate will:
- Own solution design from concept to deployment
- Translate requirements into practical, optimised, and maintainable systems
- Directly configure core platform capabilities, including data models, automation, and security
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders

- Design scalable data models, business processes, and user journeys
- Ensure adherence to Salesforce best practices and enterprise architecture standards

Hands-On Configuration & Build
- Configure Salesforce components: custom objects, fields, and relationships
- Implement automation solutions using:
- Flows
- Validation rules
- Approval processes
- Enforce security models (profiles, permission sets, sharing rules)
- Develop and optimise real-time reports and dashboards
- Ensure design aligns with user experience (UX) and maintainability
Administrative & Operational Support
- Manage daily Salesforce operations, including:
- Data maintenance (uploads, cleansing, validation)
- Reports, dashboards, and business analytics support
- User provisioning, access management, and system upgrades
- Troubleshoot ad-hoc business requests and provide operational support
Stakeholder Engagement & Requirement Management
- Lead workshops and discovery sessions with business stakeholders
- Document and prioritise business requirements into user stories with acceptance criteria
- Act as a functional lymphoid between business, technology, and external partners
- Guide stakeholders on Salesforce capabilities and constraints
Vendor & Partner Management
- Oversee external vendor relationships (implementation partners, system integrators)
- Provide functional oversight in vendor deliverables, ensuring alignment with scope and SLAs
- Track vendor performance and resolve project blockers
Governance & Best Practices
- Enforce Salesforce design standards and enterprise compliance
- Anticipate technical debt, risks, and evolving business needs
- Promote documentation consistency across implementations
Delivery, Testing & Support
- Lead the full delivery lifecycle (build, SIT, UAT, deployment)
- Validate solutions against business expectations and test criteria
- Support post-go-live optimisation and enhance user adoption
- Debug issues and implement incremental improvements

Competencies, Skills, and Experience
Essential Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in the Salesforce ecosystem, covering:
- Functional configuration (objects, fields, flows, validation rules, security models)
- Development-adjacent tasks (human-code scripting, Apex troubleshooting)
- Integration testing (API usage, data pipelines)
- CRM deployment strategies (Agile/DevOps methodology)
- Proven ability to:
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Design scalable data models, workflow automation, and access governance
- Hands-on experience in weapons and lightweight Python (Salesforce CLI, SOQL optimisation)
- Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative communication approach
