The Technology Department drives differentiation, scalability, and security for the business. It supplies digital tools, software services, and global infrastructure across all business groups. Software development and support teams operate in agile ‘streams’, delivering tailored solutions for specific business areas. Other teams provide enterprise-wide critical services, including:
- Global service desk
- Network & system infrastructure
- IT operations (security, architecture, and design)
The Software Development function creates and maintains applications, frameworks, and other software components that align with business requirements. Developers are responsible for conceiving, designing, engineering, documenting, testing, and delivering bug fixes to ensure high-quality software solutions. Each development team is aligned to one of Marex’s business divisions, collaborating closely with Business Technology and Application Support teams.
The Role
As a hands-on Salesforce Developer and Functional Architect, you will define, design, and deliver end-to-end Salesforce solutions, bridging business and technology while actively contributing to implementation from concept through deployment.
Ideal candidates will own the entire solution lifecycle, ensuring business requirements are translated into scalable, user-centric designs that include data models, automation, and security.
Key Duties:
Solution Design & Architecture
- Define end-to-end Salesforce functional solutions aligned with business objectives
- Design scalable data models, business processes, and user journeys
- Ensure solutions align with Salesforce best practices and enterprise architecture
- Translate business requirements into high-level solution designs and functional specifications
Hands-On Configuration & Build
- Configure Salesforce platform components, including:
- Objects, fields, and relationships
- Automation (Flows, validation rules, approval processes)
- Security models (profiles, permission sets, sharing rules)
- Develop reports and dashboards to meet business needs
- Ensure practical, optimized, and maintainable solutions through hands-on involvement

Administrative & Operational Support
- Support day-to-day Salesforce admin tasks alongside project delivery
- Manage data requests, including loads, cleansing, and maintenance
- Create/maintain reports and dashboards for decision-making
- Assist with user management, access controls, and basic system admin
- Respond to ad-hoc business requests and provide operational support
Stakeholder Engagement & Requirement Management
- Conduct workshops and discovery sessions with business stakeholders
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements
- Convert requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria
- Act as a trusted advisor, guiding stakeholders on Salesforce capabilities and constraints
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage relationships with external vendors and implementation partners
- Provide clear functional direction and oversight of vendor activities
- Review and validate vendor deliverables against quality and alignment standards
- Track vendor performance against scope, timelines, and SLAs
- Serve as the primary functional liaison between internal teams and external partners
Governance & Best Practices
- Establish and enforce Salesforce design and configuration standards
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with long-term strategy
- Maintain documentation and promote consistency across implementations
- Identify and mitigate risks, technical debt, and design gaps
Delivery, Testing & Support
- Support the full solution lifecycle (build, SIT, UAT, deployment)
- Ensure solutions meet business expectations and quality standards
- Provide post-go-live support and drive continuous improvements
- Troubleshoot issues and implement enhancements as needed
Competencies, Skills & Experience
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working within the Salesforce ecosystem (across functional, development, admin, and delivery roles)
- Ability to design and configure solutions, including:
- Objects, fields, flows, validation rules, security models
- Strong understanding of Salesforce data modelling, security, and reporting
- Experience translating business requirements into functional designs and solutions
- Solid stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
- Hands-on experience in Salesforce administration, including:
- Data management (data loads, cleansing, maintenance)
- Report/dashboard creation and user access controls
- System administration
- Experience delivering solutions across the full lifecycle (design → build → test → deploy → support)
- Ability to enforce Salesforce best practices and governance
- Experience in Agile delivery environments
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to balance architecture responsibilities with hands-on delivery

Desirable (But Not Mandatory)
- Experience managing vendors, system integrators, or implementation partners
- Previous roles as a Functional Developer, Lead, or Architect
- Experience with complex integrations
- Knowledge of Release Management & DevOps
- Experience mentoring junior team members
- Industry-specific Salesforce knowledge (e.g., Financial Services, Retail)
- Salesforce certifications (e.g., Administrator, Advanced Admin, Business Analyst, Cloud Consultant)
- Experience driving user adoption and change management
