About The Role
You will be an essential member of the team delivering the SAMBa (Statistical Applied Mathematics at Bath) Centre for Doctoral Training. SAMBa is a well-established research and training centre supporting approximately 150 PhD researchers and graduates. Though based in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath, we work closely with academics from many other disciplines, industrial partners, and international organisations to deliver excellent research with impact.
We are seeking a pro-active, self-motivated Centre Manager to job share with our current postholder. While you should be prepared to cover any aspect of the role, we are particularly looking for someone experienced in:
- Governance (e.g., Advisory Board oversight, funder reporting requirements)
- Partnership follow-ups (e.g., contract management)
- Training (e.g., exploring routes to deliver Continuing Professional Development (CPD))

Key Responsibilities & Attributes
You will be:
- Interested in mathematical sciences research and supporting postgraduate-level researchers to deliver it.
- Committed and entrepreneurial, capable of working effectively in a team of academics and professional services staff.
- Comfortable managing a large portfolio of information, diverse stakeholders, and collating data to meet funder reporting requirements.
- Experienced in working effectively with external collaborators and internal teams to deliver collaborative research, including co-funded PhD agreements.
- An excellent communicator, able to:
- Think strategically
- Solve problems efficiently
- Manage workloads and your own time effectively

Further Information
- Hours: The position can be held at between 0.5–0.6 FTE.
- Flexibility: We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements, though we expect at least 2 days per week on campus.
- Duration: Fixed-term for 30 months.
