Labcorp is seeking a Sample Handling Assistant (Workflow Lead) to join our shipping and logistics team within our Sample Management department in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:45am – 5pm

Job responsibilities:

  • Organizing meetings as appropriate with the team to discuss workflow and pending issues as well as prioritize any critical task
  • Directing and re-directing team members to accommodate volume changes and client deadlines
  • Ensuring all samples and/or materials are scheduled and handled per received, stored, shipped, and/or disposed as appropriate
  • Helping manage and/or alerting management on non-routine issues
  • Providing guidance and best practices for Sample Management and Archives Services
  • Providing input on SOPs and other QDMS documents as needed
  • Covering for management and peers as needed in meetings, conference calls, on the bench etc.
  • Acting as mentor answering questions and providing other training as needed
  • Demonstrating flexibility by doing other duties assigned, such as assisting in writing SOPs or acting as a subject matter expert for the department
  • Assuming a leadership role in the supervisor’s absence to include but not limited to:
    • Organizing assignments during the workday
    • Acting as a support for both internal and external customers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSc degree desirable however experience may be substituted for education

Additional Job Standards:

  • Demonstrable experience either in the scientific industry or in a samples / archives position
  • Ability to use software packages i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate where necessary
  • Pro-active, problem-solver with the ability to work in a team and independently using own initiative where appropriate
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • GxP knowledge and/or experience advantageous

This is a position where you will provide support to the Sample Management and Archive Services team and supervisors by communicating daily workflow issues and resolution along with training. You will have direct contact with our clients in a revenue generating capacity and work to various Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulations.
