Job Description
The purpose of this role is to receive and register samples as specified by and in line with client requirements, ensuring smooth operation and flow of samples by following standard procedures currently in place.
Please note this is a three-month fixed-term contract, in a part-time role working 20 hours per week - Monday to Friday 14:00 till 18:00.
- Receive and register food samples using manual and electronically based systems.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in regards to sample/result queries via email and telephone, maintaining a professional approach at all times.
- Identify any anomalies and take the necessary steps for a quick resolution.
- Assign samples to the appropriate location to uphold required TATs.
- Ensure samples are stored correctly. Including but not limited to shelf life and challenge studies, non-routine (DEFRA) samples, carryover storage, etc.
- Accurate records provision and upkeep to ensure full traceability over all samples registered.
- Follow standard operating procedures at all times to ensure the accurate and timely registration of samples in line with customers' Service Level Agreements.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working environment with due attention to the maintenance of laboratory fixtures, fittings, and equipment and report any issues immediately to the appropriate person(s).
- Partake in any cross-departmental developmental training to support and assist with the preparation of samples, Subcon, and Public Analyst Scientific Services (PASS) teams should this be required.
- Operate under the requirements of UKAS accreditation standard 17025 at all times to uphold accreditation status.
- Maintain the correct use of personal protective equipment at all times in line with the company’s Health and Safety policies.
- Knowledge of the Laboratory Quality Manual in order to ensure compliance at all times with policies, procedures, and associated documents which are referred to in the manual.

Qualifications
- Strong grasp of basic computer skills.
- Laboratory or production experience would be desirable but note essential.
- Enthusiasm, energy, and a driven outlook.
- Good communication skills both written and verbally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Maths, English, Chemistry, or Biology at GCSE grade C or above or equivalent.
