Affinity Water has an exciting opportunity to join our Stevenage Water Quality Sampling Team as a Sampler on a Part Time basis.

Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. At Affinity Water, we make sure that over 3.89 million customers can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap, But for us, it’s so much more than this.

What you'll be doing:

  • New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry.
  • You’ll spend most of your time out and about visiting water treatment works, reservoirs, and other Affinity Water sites in and around Stevenage and collecting water samples across our operational areas.
  • You’ll perform routine, non-routine and random sampling across our supply area, working independently to complete your daily schedule.
  • There will be a level of interacting with our customers to gain access to residential properties to take water quality samples, and so you'll be comfortable with entering customer properties and engaging with the public.
  • There’s lots of autonomy in this role as you’ll plan your sampling schedule each day. You’ll be excellent at managing your time, meeting deadlines and be comfortable working alone.
  • When you’re not outdoors collecting samples, you’ll be based at our site in Stevenage, completing key administration tasks such as data input and recording samples into our internal systems. You’ll be comfortable using core IT programs such as MS Excel.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
