Sanctions Technician

TYPE: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Velonetic represents the joint ventures between DXC Technology, the International Underwriting Association (IUA), and Lloyd’s of London. Previously operating as the London Market Joint Ventures, we have been active for over 20 years in the London insurance and reinsurance markets—processing over £101 billion in premium and claims transactions today. We are now building a next-generation digital platform to help our customers process transactions and payments more efficiently, freeing them to focus on innovation and high-value activities.

About the Role

We are seeking a Sanctions Technician to support compliance with US, EU, and UK sanctions regulations. Reporting to the Sanctions Team Leader, this role will form a key part of the Control, Quality, Learning & Development, and Sanctions function.

The Sanctions Function (Structure Overview)

The wider sanctions team consists of:

  • Screening Team – ’Level 1’ data entry and basic sanctions clearance
  • Clearing Team – ’Level 1-2’ sanctions clearance
  • Sanctions Team – ’Level 2’ sanctions clearance and specialised sanctions activities
  • Compliance Team – ’Level 3’ sanctions clearance

As a Sanctions Technician, your role includes:

  • Performing low-complexity Level 2 sanctions clearance
  • Escalating complex cases to Advanced/Senior Sanctions Technicians
  • Supporting operating units and stakeholders while acting as an expert in sanctions matters

This role is critical for ensuring compliance, demonstrating in-depth expertise in sanctions processes—both technically and across the wider insurance market—while interfacing with internal and external organisations.

Core Accountabilities

  • Maintain Sanctions Quality Control
  • Conduct daily audits of:

    • Next-day high-risk territory cases
  • Perform sanctions checks on currency and banks in high-risk regions
  • Manage and update the Sanctions User Group SharePoint site
  • Escalate and resolve sanctions-related queries via market consultations
  • Apply technical knowledge of sanctions and insurance processes
  • Support sanctions compliance improvements within the business
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Velonetic, championing company values and collaboration
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, embracing change and innovation
  • Present findings and conclusions clearly, logically, and effectively
  • Listen actively, take considered responses, and promote teamwork and collaboration

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
