SAP ABAP Developer – Hybrid Role (Leeds)
Role: SAP ABAP Developer
Reports to: SAP Product Owner
Location: Leeds (hybrid)
Hours: 39 hrs/week
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 (DOE)
As a SAP Developer at Magnet, you’ll contribute to the stability and evolution of our SAP systems, working across ECC, S/4HANA platforms, and their supporting business processes. Your responsibilities range from designing reports, integrations and system enhancements to resolving incidents and defects—your work will directly impact operational efficiency and future-proof our infrastructure.
This is a viable role for experienced SAPABAB developers, combining BAU support with transformational initiatives like S/4HANA migration.

- Design, build, and maintain custom ABAP developments across ECC and S/4HANA, with scope for future architecture refinements
- Deliver:
- Reporting solutions
- System integrations (both internal and external)
- Forms & workflow automation
- Investigate and troubleshoot defects/issues across our SAP landscape, documenting solutions and minimising downtime
- Collaborate with functional teams: Translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Participate in technical design discussions, applying best practices to ABAP coding, architecture, and standards
- Champion code quality & consistency while ensuring compliance with SAP security and development practices
- Support DevOps principles, version control, structured releases, and deployments
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
✔ Proficiency as an ABAP Developer with hands-on experience ✔ Strong debug/analytical skills for troubleshooting standard and custom code ✔ Ability to design, implement & support solutions in an existing ECC/S/4HANA environment with end-to-end ownership ✔ Experience with SAP integrations/connectors (external systems, Idoc, SOA, etc.) ✔ Familiarity with:
- SAP architecture, data modelling & integration methods
- SAP coding standards, development best practices and compliance
- SAP security policies

✔ Technical comfort with:
- SAP Fiori, ECC, and S/4HANA
- Version control, CI/CD principles, and structured delivery processes
Desirable (Nice to Have)
🔹 Proficiency in SAP UI5, SAP Cloud Platform, or other SAP development tools 🔹 Hands-on experience with SAP Business Technology Platforms (BTP) or SAP CX/CRM solutions 🔹 Exposure to containers, Kubernetes, or extended enterprise-micro services (e.g., BTP Roadmap) 🔹 Understanding of test automation & CI/CD pipelines for SAP environments
