SAP Digital Manufacturing / MES Consultant
Location: UK / Hyrbid Contract Type: Freelance / Contract Start Date: July 2026 Duration: 12 months Workload: 40 hours per week Remote: Approx. 90% remote, with more on-site presence at the beginning Languages: English Interview Process: 2 online interviews
Overview We are supporting a large international organisation with an SAP Digital Manufacturing programme and are looking for an experienced SAP DM / MES Consultant to support system optimisation, functional enhancements, testing, documentation, release activity and knowledge transfer. This is a hands-on consulting role suited to someone who understands SAP Digital Manufacturing in complex production environments and can work confidently across business, IT, AMS and internal delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities Assess and refine open functional requirements within SAP Digital Manufacturing. Support the implementation of functional enhancements across production-related processes. Coordinate technical and functional changes with internal teams and external support partners. Analyse recurring issues, identify root causes and document practical resolution approaches. Support optimisation between SAP DM and adjacent SAP modules, including logistics, inventory, quality and production planning areas. Create clear operational documentation, including process guides, support instructions and standard change descriptions. Prepare and deliver training material for internal users and support teams. Support test planning, test coordination and execution across manufacturing-related scenarios. Advise on SAP DM landscape optimisation across development, test and production environments. Support release planning, assessment and deployment activities. Contribute to business continuity, operational resilience and support-model documentation. Provide structured knowledge transfer to internal teams to improve long-term system ownership.

Required Experience Strong hands-on experience with SAP Digital Manufacturing / SAP DM. Good understanding of SAP production and supply chain integration points. Knowledge of related SAP areas such as PP-PI, QM, IM, Purchasing, Logistics Execution and/or EWM. Experience working in complex, regulated or quality-sensitive manufacturing environments. Strong experience in SAP operations, support, testing and release management. Ability to work independently, structure open topics and proactively manage risks. Strong communication skills and confidence working with business and technical stakeholders. Experience creating training material and delivering knowledge transfer. Good project planning and coordination skills.
