# About the Role Whitehall Resources require a SAP PI Consultant for a 6-month initial contract to collaborate with a key client.
Key Requirements
- Regular on-site visits to Shropshire or West Sussex, expected twice per month
- Must be inside IR35
- Candidates requiring, or eligible for, security clearance (SC)
- Fluent in ** Britain English**
Description
The SAP PI Consultant must:
- Develop integration solutions using SAP PI, including:
- ABAP proxies
- IDOCs (Interactive Data Exchange)
- RFCs (Remote Function Calls)
- Design integration solutions based on functional requirements
- Gain hands-on SOAP & REST API experience with proficiency in development
- Adhere to agreed requirements and development standards
- Create Unit Test documents and other formalised technical documentation
- Collaborate with functional and test teams to resolve build and testing issues
- Lead the technical team while escalating problems, risks, and project-related obstacles efficiently
- Deliver work within timescales, budget and quality criteria, with progress reporting as necessary
- Manage and control problems and changes within scope as instructed by the Team Manager
- Engage in process improvement initiatives, ensuring full awareness and adherence to QA standards and compliance

Person Profile & Technical Skills
Core Functions
A SAP PI/PO Integration Consultant must possess the following:
Mandatory Technical Skills
- Expertise in:
- SAP PI/PO 7.3 and SAP ABAP R/3 frameworks
- PI Integration Hands-on Development
- Skilled developer orientation using:
- SOAP
- REST APIs
- OAS (OpenAPI Specification)
- Strong adapter knowledge: File, JDBC, and IDOC
- Experience in ABAP R/3 system integration fundamentals

Desirable Technical Skills
- PI Interface Design / Configuration
- ABAP Proxy Development
- Advanced API Development proficiency
- Custom User Defined Java Functions coding
- Familiarity with:
- SAP TRM, PSCD, CRM, FI, and HR models
- UNIX, IBM WebSphere Message Broker (Webmethods) integrations
- Microsoft Office tools
- SAP Changemanagement (CTS+) processes
Business Specific Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication (written in ** British English**)
- Advanced problem-solving and creative approach to technical challenges
- Proactive contributor to team initiatives
- Eagerness to apply and extend knowledge in new areas of SAP integration
