Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (1 day in the office a week – Bradford/Leeds)
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for an SAP Principal Consultant – HR to join the IT team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The SAP team is part of the IT function and plays a key role in optimising and transforming our SAP applications and associated Enterprise Systems. We support business areas such as Finance, HR, Procurement, Capital Delivery and Asset Maintenance/Management. Our team consists of functional and technical consultants, along with support related roles in Project Management, Business Analysis and Service Management, the SAP HR Principal Consultant will play a key role in the SAP HR/Payroll team driving business change and being a subject matter expert for the technology within this space.
Where you fit in:
As our SAP HR Principal Consultant you will:
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable functional and technical solutions that drive business success.
- Act as the trusted link between HR leadership, business stakeholders, technical teams, and offshore AMS partners, ensuring seamless collaboration and delivery.
- Lead system change initiatives from initial concept and requirements gathering through to successful implementation.
- Partner with offshore AMS teams and business users to configure, test, and deliver enhancements across SAP SuccessFactors and S/4HANA Payroll.
- Ensure all system and process changes are fully compliant with UK legislation and aligned with the wider SAP HR and Payroll landscape.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and facilitate clear communication across all levels of the organisation.
- Support the delivery of key HR and Payroll projects, guiding solutions from design and development through to go-live and post-implementation support.
- Provide expert technical knowledge and advice across SAP HR and Payroll applications, helping to optimise processes and maximise system performance.
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance HR and Payroll systems, processes, and user experience.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to HR leadership, offering strategic insight and recommendations to support business objectives.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Core SAP & HR Systems Expertise (Employee Central, Employee Central Payroll, Compensation, Performance & Goals, Learning Management System (LMS), Time Management & Time Tracking, Recruitment & Onboarding (RCM & ONB 2.0)
- Evidence of delivery of robust integrations across HR, payroll, and third-party systems (e.g. pensions, benefits providers).
- UK Payroll & Compliance Expertise (Strong understanding of HMRC requirements, RTI submissions, GDPR, and UK employment regulations impacting HR and payroll systems).
- Data & Reporting (knowledge of SuccessFactors reporting, custom reporting gather requirements and build test and instructing end user use of reports, Strong data governance & GDPR awareness)
- Good coordination and communication skills with excellent slide, document and spreadsheet skills
- Formal qualifications that include SAP SuccessFactors certifications for key modules and SAP HCM Payroll certification (for legacy expertise)
- Experience of 10+ years in SAP HR/Payroll with at least 5+ years in SuccessFactors
